Loves, I may have an obsession with Pink YSL pieces. But is it problem if I don’t plan on doing anything about it? This jacket is just perfect–I love the cut outs, the bow, the buckle. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen, so when I saw it at one of my faves, Recess LA, I had to have it. It’s a versatile piece, could be worn with dresses, skirts, slacks; but I love that it went just as well with my $8 Target Tank Top and jeans. That’s what I call a great investment!

Happy Long Weekend! XO RA

Where to Shop: Beehive

image

Loves, one of my most fave boutiques has become Beehive (they have locations in Austin, Houston, and Ft Worth, Tx as well as online here). Besides super on point, affordable clothes, everyone who works there is just a dream. The store calls itself the Hive, and I love being a part of it! The store itself is cool and inviting (I’ve spent more than one afternoon there), and the clothes!

image

Here’s what I love: you’ll find on trend, fun pieces, some pieces that are inspired by other collections–but no knock-offs. The collections, accessories, and space have a fun attitude; like the cool girl at school but everyone is invited to sit with them!

image
image

You’ll find great pieces that are stand out, pieces that make you smile, and the girls will feel like friends! I love this boutique so much that their pieces have found their way into my weekly rotation (loves, my closet is big, this is a big deal) and I go to the store simply to hang out! Check them out on Instagram or make your way there-I promise you won’t be disappointed.

In fact, if you’re in FW Septemeber 15 come by the store! I will be there hosting my first pop-up! There will be drinks, deals, more than one vendor and styling by me–more details to follow!

Falling Forward

Loves, how is it that it’s the last day of August? Are you ready for fall? And how can we be when it’s still 100 degrees??? While I’m running around, trying to calm myself, I’m trying to add some fall elements to my wardrobe. And while I loved the off-shoulder trend this summer, I LOVE that it carries over in a blazer like this! These jeans just make me smile (missed the video on how I made them? Got you here). So while I may look like I’m falling forward, I’m hanging onto the fun of summer!

Happy last day of August! XO RA

Le Garage Sale

image

I have to admit that my main experience with large “fair” type shopping has involved only Vintage fairs, sample sales or antique fairs. So when I happened to be in Austin for Le Garage Sale, and I was promised it was akin to Barney’s Warehouse Sale, I knew it needed to be on my list of “must-do”. I think the idea is brilliant: get all of the local boutiques in one place, and everything they sell is on sale! It gives the customer a chance to get to know smaller retailers, and you get great deals!
image

I only spent a couple of hours at the sale on Sunday–and managed to come away with amazing pieces, and spent less than $250! I got a chance to see boutiques I didn’t know (and some I know and love) and got to shop with friends!

I even got to make new friends at the booths! Some pro-tips: Some booths restocked throughout the weekend, making multiple trips valid. The space wasn’t so large that it was completely overwhelming so you could do more than one pass through; though some booths had limited stock so if there was something you had to have, it’s best to buy right away. And most importantly? Have Fun!

And while this pic is awkward, I promise I had fun!

I’d love to know: have you been to Le Garage Sale in Austin? Does your community have something like this?

Knowing me as you do, you know that I love all things Gucci, so I couldn’t resist this inspired bodysuit! And to find the perfect car to shoot in front of–I think it couldn’t resist either. The tie front means that you could make this top a bit more chaste, it could go with a skirt as well as jeans, and I love the print! And that perfect blush color!

Hair Perfume

image

Loves, I travel a lot. I work out a lot. What I don’t always do a lot? Wash my hair. I mean, yes, I wash it- but not daily. Sometimes, I simply rinse it. Sometimes, I wait till a blow out appointment. But I always want to look, and smell, perfect. So I’m absolutely loving this new trend- hair perfume. There are so many brands, so many scents. My fave? Lighter, non-floral scents. I simply spray at my roots and brush through. My hair smells great, I feel pulled together , and the scent lasts.

Classic. Soft silk. Perfect pink. That drape. When I found this beauty on Etsy, I couldn’t resist it! The great thing about vintage dresses like this one, is that it doesn’t feel dated. The length, the cut, the color all feel fresh’ and because it’s pre-loved, the price is great as well! Everyone wins.

Inspiration can come in all sizes and shapes–and on Instagram! That’s what I love most about magazines, books, and now Instagram, scrolling through and seeing how other people and brands have put together outfits can inspire me to do my own “version”! That’s what happened with this Intermix pic:
image
I loved the play of high/low hem, the sweater with a more summer skirt, the flats with it! I thought “what a perfect transition outfit”. And loves, we are headed right for transitions. So I began to think what I could do to recreate the look. I knew that I had shoes similar to this, I knew I had a turtleneck, and a striped skirt? Easy! So I put together my version, and with the return of the marine layer in Southern CA this week, it was perfect timing! I love the ease of the outfit, the play, the light sweater and hem keep me cool, and yet I like the feel of “the almost fall” about it.

I’d love to know: what inspires you?

Chanel Heat

There’s the research that proves that Chanel is currently a better investment than the stock market (see, I knew what I was doing here), but that can also mean that Chanel prices can soar. I don’t know about you, but on every vintage shopping site, every consignment store trip, I see Chanel prices that are a big steep–making it out of reach for a lot of us. However, you can still find great deals–you have to search a bit, go to stores a bit, but the Chanel that you love? It’s out there for you.

I found a great deal on this vintage Chanel skirt at Garment Modern in Austin and feel in love! It has the great classic buttons, a classic shape, fantastic silk, and went with the shoes I had on! Also what I love, while the shape is classic, and can be styled classically, it can also be modern and a bit edgy. I will wear this with blouses and sweaters, but I love the unexpectedness of a bralette. That’s the amazing thing about a classic, it provides a base, you provide fresh ideas. I encourage you to play with your classics, try them with things you might not have thought would go together –you might surprise yourself, and get a great outfit!

Happy Monday! XO RA

I love classics, be it pieces or Icons. So when the two combine? I’m all in. I love the feel of this vintage opera coat-the way it swings, the sleeves, the color. And paired with black pants, flats and a bun-I can’t help but feel a little like Audrey myself. It’s a perfect combination for lunch, dinner, or just a day–it feels put together and yet really fun. And isn’t that the best part of classic Icons?
