The weather here can’t seem to make up its mind. It’s cloudy and over-cast, threatening rain one minute. Hot and sunny the next. It never feels quite bright enough and the days seem just a little bit touchy for everyone. But there’s something about the early morning light–and a little peace at the river, it matched my mood, and my jumpsuit just perfect. Ok yes, we know I have a thing for jumpsuits–but this one, just sexy enough with the cut out and strapless–but the wide legs and pockets(!?!?) keep it comfy (I swear!). Hope your Friday is less moody!
It is trying so hard to be fall. We’ve been getting rain–the sun comes and goes quickly–as can be seen in today’s pics–and it will rain really hard and then be hot again 2 minutes later. It’s been making dressing for the day a little tough, but I’m using it as an excuse to embrace fall trends: flared jeans, tie-blouses, and hats. I didn’t think I was a hat woman but I’ve changed my mind. They pull things together–not to mention hide dirty hair! What about you? Do you hat?
Suiting isn’t all jackets and heels. I’m loving this casual take with dress pants, an over-sized men’s sweater with bralette ( which could easily be replaced with a t-shirt or camisole) and as my neighbor calls them “fancy sneakers”. It was perfect for a casual lunch meeting and then some football. And these “fancy sneakers”? I didn’t think I’d jump on the flatform bandwagon but I may be sold–super comfy and gave me just enough height to not feel as if I need heels. You may need to try them!
Hope Monday is passing painlessly! XO RA
Sweater: Old and from the Men’s Section of Gap. If you haven’t tried it for your sweatering needs I can’t recommend it enough
Can we be honest? We live in a world that makes it easy to get caught up in what you want, what you don’t have, and what’s wrong. There’s a time and a place for that, but again, honestly, we have so much to be grateful for–if you have running water and a roof over your head you’re rich, believe it or not. And while it’s easy to get caught up, I do my best to focus on the small things that I am grateful for. After all, a conversation with a dear friend reminded me–the small things matter a lot, and the more you’re grateful the more you have! Below are some small moments that meant a lot to me this week–I’d love to know, what are you grateful for today?
Wishing us all a week of blessings and amazing shoes! XO RA
Good morning coffee in my lucky pig mug
Rereading sweet notes and getting texts from dear friends
Cooler weather and Football!
Watching one of my all time favorite movies–I was Malecifent for Halloween before it was cool
Getting to spend time with my sister and visit Art Museums!
Homemade Paleo Banana Muffins that taste even better than they look!
Just like I have been excited to see the moody florals that are showing for fall, I’m loving the pastels with edge that are helping to ease me into the season. Notice the skirt has ribbons of gold in it–it’s not your grandma’s knit skirt. And as Mother Nature hasn’t gotten the “fall” memo, pairing it with heels and an off-the-shoulder top leaves me cool, yet feeling pulled together!
So it’s past Labor Day–but it’s still hot. The good part about that? I can still get away with this simply gorgeous dress by Self Portrait. If you’ve never bought a Self Portrait dress I cannot recommend them enough–sexy yet sophisticated, they fit like a dream, and the tailoring is out of this world. And this color?! I may be glad it’s not officially fall yet!
If there’s one thing I love more than wearing clothes it’s buying new ones! Labor Day weekend brings the traditional end of summer–but it also brings some amazing sales. Check below to see some of my picks!
It’s hot. Case in point: my top, even though it had been pressed, wrinkled just by my going outside–so it’s over stated, but yes, hot. And all I want to wear are things that are as cool as possible. This combination is so light the heat is almost bearable, but the classic stripes, and pop of red on the shoes make me feel pulled together–and hot in the non-weather way!
Hope you’re managing to stay cool these last few days of summer! XO RA

I think it’s no secret that I have a thing for jumpsuits–who doesn’t when they can be this effortless and chic? Even more difficult is resisting this Mara Hoffman number–it’s linen so you stay cool, yet the embroidered stripes keep it from being anything but simple. I think it’s safe to say it’s love!
