Loves! I have a confession: I ordered these “Product of a Strong Female” for my mom and sister as well. The thought was that, on our epic family road trip, we could all wear them and photograph them. Well, the mail got in the way of that, as they didn’t come before our trip, but during our trip (Murphy’s Law). The good news? Now they’re here! And in the theme of yesterday’s “Fashion Gives Back” it’s a chic shirt, with a strong message, that gives back. This shirt was available on Omaze, and this shirt gave back to Baby2Baby. Unfortunately, this campaign has ended, if you want information about Baby2Baby and how you can support this group that helps women and kids, you can read all about them and get involved here.

Let’s talk about Strong Females, shall we? Because these shorts are some of my fave, I love these mules (ironically I just found out that my great-grandma, a badass in her own right, loved heeled mules, so I love these more), the scarf around the ankle with a brooch (I copied the brooch and bandana from a friend, and another friend has been rocking an ankle/leg bandana, I have a friend who sells amazing vintage jewelry), and these earrings (made by another badass female). And then, there’s my mom–a strong female who raised me to be confident and fearless while remaining a lady. I am surrounded by amazing women, and I am so grateful for it!

In fashion news: I love a great staple outfit that can go anywhere in the summer. This combo (classy shorts and a graphic tee) is one to keep in your pocket. And if you happen to celebrat the strong females who made you while you’re rocking it? Rock on!

These earrings are Cassandra Collections (Instagram @cassandrascollections), and my gal Bloomers and Frocks (@bloomersandfrocks) usually has a selection of articulated brooches.

Fashion Gives Back: Tee Shirts!

Loves! Last month, we started the series Fashion Gives back (because caring and charity and fashion are not mutually exclusive), you can read our first feature on BunnyJack Gives here. This month? We have a bunch of different companies, all with an amazing graphic tee, whose proceeds go towards a charity we believe in. Why? Everyone needs a great graphic tee (I personally love them with sequined maxi skirts), and one that gives back is an even better shirt!

Have a company that you love that does their part to make us more fashionable and heal the world? We’d love to hear about them! (Racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com). In the meantime, check out these tee shirts! Be fashionable and give back!

The Word Changes
One word tee shirts that give 2/3 of the profits to help impoverished and hungry kids, and education for kids? I’m in! This month the word is Success (though you can shop their other words as well!), and if this success helps us look great and gives back, that’s truly successful in my book!

Thirst Project
There are times that we forget that having running water (in two different kinds) makes us so, so rich. Thirst project aims to help solve the global water crisis by giving part of the proceeds of their line of shirts and sweatshirts to make sure people get clean water!

Irwin Garden Collection
Yes, loves this is not a graphic tee–but it’s beautiful and gives back to Planned Parenthood. In a collaboration with artist, AColli (@acolli on Instagram), this cotton shirt features artistic renderings of the nude female; it’s classy and a bit edgy at the same time (my fave combo!). Email info@irwingarden.com to preorder!

Ulla Johnson
And lastly, and of my faves, in fashion that gives back: Ulla Johnson takes on refugees, solidarity, and the current climate with this “We Are All Immigrants” tee. 100% of the proceeds go to the ACLU, so it’s a fanatic way to look chic and make sure that you’re making a difference.

In my humble opinion, Summer is sweeter by the water (lakes, rivers, pools, the ocean). And life, in general, is so much more interesting when we let go and dive in. (Yes, diving in is hard, no, don’t worry, this isn’t an inspirational post. Though great “diving in” clothes” inspire me!) Between my love of all things vintage and all things water, I couldn’t resist this Jcrew sweater with vintage divers printed on it! It’s light weight enough so you don’t die of heat stroke, but still keeps you warm on cool summer nights!

And these pants! These are from Outdoor Voices (you can read about my experience with them here), and these pants are quickly becoming one of my fave go-to’s. The texture really elevates them, and I’m obsessed with this color~ I’ve worn them as a bathing suit cover up and with heels and a “going out top”. They fit impeccably, and you need a pair!

While it might be expected, we couldn’t resist shooting this look on the road during my recent family vacation. Yes, you are looking at the indoor pool of a hotel in the middle of no-where, where we stopped for the night. (Side note-it was a great hotel! And the pool was heated!) I scared my mom a little when I pretended to dive in, there were some shots I made her take over and over again, but we had a good time! (And yes, I really wore this outfit to hang out at the pool!)

It’s Monday. Let’s dive in, shall we??

Sunday Chronicles: Scenes from a Road Trip

Investment Piece: Sunday Chronicles

Loves, if you’ve been following my Instagram, especially my Instagram stories, you know that my family (mom/sister) and I went on a road trip for our family vacation this year. Road trips seem to be something completely American and nostalgic, and at the same time freeing and fresh. Our road trip? A little bit of both! There were small towns (yes, every town in TX has a football stadium, it’s the law), open spaces, dust, mountains, huge cities, and tiny villages that almost looked deserted. We sang along to the radio, laughed, fought only once, and saw a tiny bit of this country in a new way. Below you can see some of the amazing moments from our trip. I’d love to know: what’s the best thing about road trips for you?

Investment Piece: Those Views!

Loves! Holiday weeks are hard. Not that I don’t love a great holiday (my 4th was great-really low key, how was yours?), but the buildup and the come down can be really difficult. To add to my struggle, I got home from a family vacation on Sunday, worked out really hard Monday-Wednesday, have spent my time trying to get things together, and start traveling again on Wednesday (between my cities). I’m dragging. I’m not on my A game. I apologize now.

What’s helping? Looking at pics from my trip! Loves! Those Views! We went to Colorado Springs, and the natural beauty was above and beyond anything I was expecting (and anything I could put together!). Just the views along make me swoon. The even better news? This outfit is pretty swoon worthy itself (those views)!

These Jcrew pants go with everything (don’t you love the green colors?), this one shoulder top is perfect for casual affairs, but lends itself to a special something. And the details! Hat, bag (vintage from my family= super special), and my go-to in the summer (Dr Scholl’s). This outfit took me from swoon worthy views in the am to a great lunch to drinks by the pool (and then the fire) at night. Talk about adaptable!

I hope that your holiday was amazing, I hope that you’re excited for the rest of your summer, I hope that I get more energy!

Laundry Mat

Investment Piece: Laundry Mat

Loves, there is something I just love about a great juxatipositon, about wearing unexpected things unexpected places, about editorial looks, and about glamming up our every day lives. So doesn’t it make sense that I would shoot in a laundry mat? The colors, the sound, the smell–there’s so much life in them; and let’s be honest they’re all about fashion! (You have to clean your clothes!) And while you could probably get away with wearing your pjs to the laundry mat, why wouldn’t you look your best?

I love that this look is a slight nod to Americana. The top is vintage, the red/blue/white/sheer is to die for, and while I liked the look of it over a white bralette, it would go just as great over a slip dress, tank, camisole, t-shirt, or even a swimsuit! You can’t get more classic than a pencil skirt, and the white just makes it pop! The shoes are a fave–the clear heel!

Investment Piece: Laundry Mat

This look as is would be great for summer cocktails, and with a quick change to a tank top it would be great for office work. But it’s me, and so it went great with the laundry mat. Surprisingly, no stares, no big reactions. There are times when I’m planning shoots, or my day, and think: “what if this outfit is too big?” Well, like Oscar Wilde said: you can’t really be overdressed; and I’ve found that a little confidence (even faked) and a love of juxatipositon gets you far!

This post was first featured about a year ago–time flies when you look amazing! And I couldn’t help but repost it today (mainly as I wore it again, and remembered how much I love it)! This off the shoulder top is one of my go-to’s, these are some of my fave white pants, and the earrings are still a fave! This is what I originally said:

Off the Shoulder is having a moment–and I absolutely love this version of it. The ruffled sleeves and wrap waist just feel fun–and the earrings help in that department! I’ve worn with top with skirts, jeans, cut-offs–but loved the juxtaposition of the white pants and the colors of the food trucks! And these earrings–I wear them with everything!

Happy Monday! XO RA

Design in the Wild: Swimwear

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

As we began to plan out this month’s “Design in the Wild”, not much went our way. The jeans we wanted to test out were sold out (again), my team and I had different ideas, and it really felt like it might not come together. I got nervous. Then I had a great idea: it’s been way too hot, way too soon, and all I’ve wanted to do is get in the water! My big idea: I’d wear my swim suit around and see what reaction I got!

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

Great idea, right? And while I still think that the issue became: I already live my life this way! I’ve been wearing swim suits as street wear forever!

See:

This was even one of my first blog posts: here.

From above and on Instagram (@racheladelicia) you know that I wear my swim suits everywhere, and the reaction is always great! The only comments I get are that people think it’s cute.

So my next idea: What if you wore your swim suit around and let me know the reaction? That’s right loves, this is your chance to be on Investment Piece! Wear your swim suit as part of your outfit (use any of mine for inspiration or do your own!) Take pics, take down reactions- if you want to do a series of pictures or a video, amazing! And send it to me at racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com. We’ll put you on the blog in 2 weeks!

I can’t wait to see what you send in!
