This post was first featured about a year ago–time flies when you look amazing! And I couldn’t help but repost it today (mainly as I wore it again, and remembered how much I love it)! This off the shoulder top is one of my go-to’s, these are some of my fave white pants, and the earrings are still a fave! This is what I originally said:

Off the Shoulder is having a moment–and I absolutely love this version of it. The ruffled sleeves and wrap waist just feel fun–and the earrings help in that department! I’ve worn with top with skirts, jeans, cut-offs–but loved the juxtaposition of the white pants and the colors of the food trucks! And these earrings–I wear them with everything!

Happy Monday! XO RA

The great news for us is that now it’s Friday, and it’s a holiday weekend! If you follow me on Instagram (@racheladelicia) you know I’m off on a family vacation–but we still have you covered! We remind you of our iFund Women project Sunday, have a sale round up on Monday, and a great outfit to share next Wednesday! In the meantime I’ve updated the shopping options!

Design in the Wild: Swimwear

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

As we began to plan out this month’s “Design in the Wild”, not much went our way. The jeans we wanted to test out were sold out (again), my team and I had different ideas, and it really felt like it might not come together. I got nervous. Then I had a great idea: it’s been way too hot, way too soon, and all I’ve wanted to do is get in the water! My big idea: I’d wear my swim suit around and see what reaction I got!

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

Great idea, right? And while I still think that the issue became: I already live my life this way! I’ve been wearing swim suits as street wear forever!

This was even one of my first blog posts: here.

From above and on Instagram (@racheladelicia) you know that I wear my swim suits everywhere, and the reaction is always great! The only comments I get are that people think it’s cute.

So my next idea: What if you wore your swim suit around and let me know the reaction? That’s right loves, this is your chance to be on Investment Piece! Wear your swim suit as part of your outfit (use any of mine for inspiration or do your own!) Take pics, take down reactions- if you want to do a series of pictures or a video, amazing! And send it to me at racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com. We’ll put you on the blog in 2 weeks!

I can’t wait to see what you send in!

Stripes

Stripes: All American Classic, perfect for that upcoming holiday, and anything but boring. Case in point? This stripe swing dress. The puff sleeve, the button up, the stripe: nothing that can steer you wrong here. And the great thing? It can go with so many things: heels, wedges, flats, and sneakers. Here I loved adding a bit of fringe for drama! And did you notice that the wedges have a stripe too? I couldn’t resist!

The great thing about a shirt dress is that it’s completely versatile. You can dress it up or down, can go from the office to happy hour, and this version in cotton makes it perfect for summer. I’m partial to the vertical stripes, but really any shirt dress can give you this look: classic white could be great, as well as chambray, or even polka dots! These wedges (beside having the cutest stripe) are plastic! The great part about that means that if you happen to get them dirty, they are super easy to clean; and believe it or not, very comfy! This bag, which is almost an accessory and a half) is a few seasons old, but I just adore it! It adds a littl pop to everything!

I’m thinking of wearing this number for the 4th! I love that it’s color appropriate but not over the top. What do you think?

Outdoor Voices

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

Two of my great loves? Working Out and Fashion. Opposites? Not at all–there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good wherever you are, and another great love of mine? Companies that get that! So, I was so excited to get a chance to tour the Outdoor Voices store the last time that I was in Austin, get some amazing pieces, and learn more about their brand!

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

Loves, I have a confession: I like really hard workouts. I like to know that I’m getting stronger, love to sweat, and love to move. While I’m working my ass off (hopefully literally), I care about what I look like–I’m not the type to work out in make-up and designer clothes; but, I care about things like my leggings not being see-through, being tight enough, and yes, being cute enough! Cue Outdoor Voices: their legging collection is a dream!
Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

From color to cut to fit, Outdoor Voices has mastered the legging. There’s seasonal colors, amazing cut outs, and the best thing is that they aren’t see through (tested through many a spin and yoga class), they don’t ride up, and the fit is so great that you don’t have to tug! A company that gets that my workouts are a necessity but let me look great while doing do–I love it!

Loves, Outdoor Voices doesn’t just do amazing leggings and sports bras. Their motto? Doing Things! And they have a great selection of clothes in which to do things: from hiking, errands, dog walking, or any activity you can think of, Outdoor Voices has you covered. Some of my fave things? Their jogging pants (my new go-to), tanks/tees (some of the softest I’ve ever touched), and the new capris (which are fancy enough to pair with button downs and “street clothes”). I promise you’ll see me in these a lot! Another great feature? When you fall in love with Outdoor Voices products like I have you can invest in a Rec Kit-pants/top/bra starting at $100, an amazing deal!

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices
Impeccable fits, great clothes, and deals? The only thing that makes Outdoor Voices even better are the people: Everyone I’ve met at OV was incredibly kind, willing to help, and knowledgable! I’ve even gotten emails since my visit making sure the fit of my clothes was spot on! And, I regularly see the staff working out, meaning that they won’t lead you wrong!

There are some pieces that I just love not matter what: and overalls are one of them. Weird? Maybe. I love that overalls are the original jumpsuit, that they go great over swimsuits, that overalls can be dressed up or down. I fell in love with these Madewelloveralls on Instagram when a friend posted them shown with a blazer. I loved that they kept the “integrity” of overalls but added an edge–I love the skinny leg and the drop hem! These would look great with any tee, shirt, sweater, with a blazer –and heels or flats!

You can see other overalls I’ve loved here, here, and here.

And loves: these details! I love the juxatipositon of the button up with the overalls, and especially love the flare of the French Cuff. And the monogram–it doesn’t get any better! (You can see that shirt here). And the plaid shoes: so Summer, so classic, so fun!

I’ve worn this outfit to summer meetings and to happy hour!

Loves, as it’s #TBT , and I’ve had this outfit on my mind, I couldn’t resist reposting this. I still love this outfit as much as I did last year–and still wear it! I’ve updated the shopping links, so you can get your shopping on! Happy Thursday!

I have avoided the blazer/shorts combo for years. Partially out of fear that it was the “fashion mullet”, business on top, party on bottom. Partially as I love a good sundress. However, this combo slowly won me over. Here is my caveat: I think shoes are important, wearing flip flops is a no-no, they need to elevate the outfit. Other than that, I say let’s have fun! I know there are matched sets out there, which I love, and I love the idea of making a set; but I also love the juxtaposition of this outfit. The classic and the destroyed. I stayed cool (and oh my is it hot!) and yet felt pulled together for meetings. The perfect #summersuit. Oh, and we”re gonna talk about this ClareV bag- it’s one of my faves (and I have it in 3 colors)

Trend to Try: Embroidered Dress

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Embroidered Dress

A few months ago in our #TrendtoTry we chatted Embroidery and all the amazing embroidered selections we have at our selection. Yes, this trend to try is connected. Embriodered Dresses, like the vintage Mexican or Oxacan style, are what I used to live in during the summer. Evidenced in this family gem:

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Embroidered Dresses

This summer, I find myself doing exactly the same thing. Truths we can’t escape: everything comes back, and history repeats itself! This blue dress in the top picture is one I’ve been living in, seriously, almost daily. (You may recognize it from Instagram–it’s already shoppable under My Looks in the menu!) Mom and I are headed to Mexican Mart in San Antonio as part of family vacation, and I can’t wait to add to my collection!

All that Glitters

Investment Piece: All that Glitters

We get told a lot of things: Let your light shine, all that glitters isn’t gold, smile, and (my fave) don’t let anyone dull your sparkle. There are times when these are true (this is not the part where I tell you not to shine, or to put up with people who can’t handle your shine). However, there are times when these things aren’t EXCATLY true. Sometimes all that glitters is gold–and sometimes, it adds to our shine!
Investment Piece: All that Glitters

You may remember this dress (vintage from Garment Modern) from my Instagram last summer; I loved wearing it with my fave Adidias out to outdoor events. It has just the right amount of sparkle (and sequin) to stand out, but the sweater dress quality allows you to dress it up or down. I love it with heels here– it’s special enough for any “fancy” occasion, but not so over the top that you will intimidate anyone (that’s what your personal shine is for). I love a great piece that lets me dress it up or down, wear it in a park, wear it at a 5 star restaurant!

How would you wear it? XO RA

Champagne Tastes

Investment Piece: Champagne Tastes

I don’t think it’s any secret that I have champagne tastes. Though not always, and I attempt to find reasonable pieces, and show a wide range of price points in my shopping picks! However, there are times that only champagne will do. However, champagne isn’t always in the budget. What do you do?

Well, there are many things you can do when there is a piece that you know you have to have.

Save
I’m a big fan of this one! Not only is it an accountant approved activity, I try to make it fun. When there’s a piece I’m saving for, I make sure I set aside cash each week for it (yes, in a special piggy bank). And then when I have saved enough, it’s like Christmas morning. (Yes, I’ve gotten so excited I’ve clapped in a Valentino store. I’m not sorry. The boots!)

Think Outside the Box

I’m still waiting to hear from Gucci if they will take my kidney in exchange for shoes.

Investment Piece, non wedding, fashion blogger, Asos, Gucci, Valentino, floral boots, Megan Weaver, high fashion, CA, TX

But one of my fave ways to satisfy my champagne tastes on a Trader Joe’s Budget?

Resale
We know that I love vintage (the ultimate form of recycling), and resale is an offshoot of that! There are a ton of places you can find new, on trend pieces- often for a fraction of the price! The trick? You have to search (most sites have an alert feature you can use), you have to be willing to wait (seriously, that’s the hardest part), and you have to be a bit flexible (not saying don’t find your perfect piece, but maybe cast a wider net!). I can’t tell you how many pieces I have that are from resale, and how much I love them! From the Gucci bag pictured above to this Gucci Dress:
Investment Piece, fashion, Gucci, leather, hotel, CA, TX, high fashion
And these Celine Boots:
Investment Piece, fashion, blogger, Celine, all black, high fashion, CA, TX

Champagne Tastes. Not Champagne Prices!

Some Resale Places I adore: Vestaire Collective, TheRealReal, Tradesy, and if you’re into brick and mortar ReccessLA in LA is a favorite!

I’d love to know: where do you shop resale?

Investment Piece: Summer Suit

Loves, you’re not imagining things. You’ve seen this blazer before (here). And while I loved this blazer as a way to transition from summer to fall, I also adore it as a Summer suit! Because, yes, it’s Summer, but there are still times when a suit is needed!

I have to admit, though I am wary of some versions of this combo, I have a thing for Blazers and shorts. You read about it, and see my Summer suit of last summer, here, and also check my Etsy history: I’ve been searching for the perfect 80s short suit. I didn’t find one, so I made one! I love that this blazer is a true blazer (in the trust tree: a little hot to shoot in southern humidity) but the off the shoulder makes it interesting. I paired it with classic white shorts (oversized just a tad to balance the structure) and these stunning lace up sandals. Perfect for more casual Summer business, or a night out!

I’d love to know: What’s your Summer suit?
