White Season

imageimageimageimageimageimageimage

Being from the South I’ve adhered to certain rules about white all my life–no white after Labor day for example. However, even among my Southern friends there are disagreements about when you can begin to wear white–I know die-hard Southerns who claim Easter, others who claim Memorial Day. Well, no matter where your line in the sand is- there’s good news! It’s Memorial Day! We can wear white! And this means one of my favorite things–the little white dress is back. Much like its sister, the little black dress,  there is a white dress for every occasion–casual, cocktail, formal. I love the clean sophistication that white brings, and love that it can have so many dimensions. This season is seeing some amazing lace whites, boho whites, and classics–so I promise there’s something for everyone!

I’d love to know your take on the great white debate and how you feel about white dresses!

At one time I thought of polka dots as something for little girls. Not anymore. I can’t tell you how many pieces I have with dots–and each one is a little different. My current fave is this sexy Topshop dress–and these shoes! Ebay find–and I love them!

May Gray

imageimageimageimageimage

May days in LA don’t start out sunny and warm. They tend to start gray–clouds, a little cool, and if you didn’t know better you might think it was going to rain. This breaks up–the sun comes out, and it feels like you think LA should. However–there’s just something I love about these gray mornings, especially if it gives me an excuse to wear my fave color.

Hope you have a fabulous Friday! xo RA

There is a lie we tell ourselves while shopping–or maybe this is where you tell me you’re a better person than I am and you don’t lie to yourself. I do. I tell myself that I will wear whatever the item is in so many ways, in all seasons, with everything. Sometimes that is a lie–but sometimes I’m telling the truth. I fell in love with this Sass&Bide skirt–and have managed to wear it in more than one way, in more than one season–look at me telling the truth! In the winter I pinned the front panels together, making it more of true skirt; now that it’s warmer I’ve been letting the shorts show and wearing with sandals. And I love it each way!

There’s a shot of LA that’s in a ton of commercials lately– the LACMA light installation. I could not think of a better place to show you some of the most amazing shoes I own (and that’s saying a lot). The early morning light filters in slowly here–but it can still capture the shoes–even the security guards loved them.

It’s Monday–hope you have spectacular shoes to get you through the day!

The Best 3 Spring Flats Under $150

I love shoes. The only thing I think you need more of then heels? Flats. I’ll be honest–it has taken me a while to warm up to flats, nine times out of ten I will still pick a heel. However, as the years have passed there are times that nothing beats a good flat. My criteria? The flats must be stylish, comfortable, and able to be worn with a variety of outfits. I’d love to know–what are your fave flats?

First up these amazing HM sneakers. They’re comfy and have been my go-to from everything from leggings to t-shirt dresses to jeans and t-shirts. I also may or may not have bought an extra pair for football season.

Next: these Cole Haan Drivers. All the cool kids in my Jr High had Cole Haan loafers–but let me tell you that they weren’t this cool-these are the cool big sister of those loafers, done in suede and able to add a polish to just about anything. I’ve been wearing mine with jeans, shorts, and t-shirt dresses.

Lastly these expensive looking Halogen T-Straps. I saw a girlfriend wearing them at the gym and went home and ordered them. From black pants, black dresses, jeans, sweats–there hasn’t been an outfit I haven’t loved them with yet!

Is there anything more classic than a white button down and jeans? No. It can go anywhere–be dressed up or down. And here’s the great thing? You can have fun with it! I found this amazing little pink satin turban at one of my favorite stores in LA, Recess, and knew it would be amazing with anything–even jeans.

Hope you have an amazing Monday–with a little bit of fun! xo RA

Denim For Days

True Story–when I was little I refused to wear jeans. I would only wear my “princess dress” and all things that looked that ball gowns. While I still stand behind that attitude–and still love a good gown– it’s possible that I wasn’t aware that jeans could look like this; and that denim in general is one of the most amazing things ever. This is one of those effortless outfits–with effortless pieces that look amazing with anything. And can we talk about how easy they go together?!
