As a fashion lover there are times when I feel as if I’m faced with a dilemma. Wear things that are amazing and fashionable, but maybe not the best for the planet or the people that make the fashion. Or support companies that give back, and give up fashion. Loves, I don’t like to settle. I have this weird belief that we should get want we want, and that doing good and being fashionable don’t have to be mutually exclusive. There are amazing companies out there who give back’ and lucky for us some of them make stunning fashion. Fashion Gives Back, and we’re the winners!
Yes, I care about giving back. But loves, in all honesty, the thing that draws me in is always the fashion. (I can’t help it!) And SiiZU doesn’t disappoint in the fashion! Think of it like a sustainable Zara: they have great basics, but they’re made with care from quality fabrics. And the styles are one you’ll wear over and over again.
(Right now, I’m in love with this black trench):
And if the clothes weren’t dreamy enough, SiiZU’s philosophy is enough to make you fall in love. Their promise? The clothes are high quality, made with eco-friendly materials (there are no toxins, everything is organic), the prices are affordable, there is little waste, every purchase gives back to the American Forest, and there is no middle man. Did I mention the clothes are gorgeous?
SiiZU’s selection of silks, wools, cashmere, tencel, and linens (and of course, cotton), are sourced from the best eco-friendly factories and sources. When things come from a great place, you can feel good about them–and that’s before you feel how amazing these fabrics feel against your skin. (SiiZU also ensures that all of the factories they use are safe, and the workers are paid a living wage. It’s something to feel even better about!)
And the cherry on top? SiiZU donates 10%of every purchase to the American Forest, a program which plants trees to offset our carbon footprint, and replace the trees that are lost to manufacturing.
I love that when shopping SiiZU, I don’t have to choose between doing good and feeling good. Take a look at SiiZU and fall in love, too!
Fashion isn’t just the clothes (and shoes) that we put on our body. Another form of fashion? Our eye wear! I can’t tell you, as someone who is blind without her glasses/contacts, how much confidence the right pair of glasses can give you! It makes me so incredibly happy any time someone compliments my glasses, or asks me where I got them. But Loves, let’s be honest, glasses (and contacts) can be really expensive (and over here we save our money for shoes). And yet, glasses can really effect how you look! Enter Warby Parker! Part of why I love this company is that they were founded on the concept that looking great shouldn’t break your bank, and on top of that: they give back!
I love that this company is dedicated to helping you find the right glasses for you. I’m more in love with the fact that Warby Parker is dedicated to helping those can’t afford eye care see. Another great aspect of Warby Parker? They let you try on at home! Just pick out 5 pairs of glases, you get free shipping, and you keep and pay for what you like. How’s that for service?
And Loves–these aren’t your Momma’s glasses! Warby Parker has stylish frames, great fit, and trends for everyone!
And have we mentioned that they give back? For every amazing pair of glasses you get, you’re making sure that someone who needs assistance is getting glasses, too!
It’s always my pleasure to share with you ways that you can be fashionable, and yet give back. This month I’m thrilled to share with you LemLem, founded by model Liya Kebede. Beyond staples that are stunning and comfy, perfect for summer, LemLem was founded to support the women of Ethiopia. What does that mean for you? You can look amazing, and every piece you buy was hand woven by an artisan, paid for her trade, and part of the proceeds go to providing maternal care and economic empowerment for all women in Africa. Loves! It’s the best time of the year. It’s a weird time of the year. We want to buy for ourselves. We want to buy for others. We want all those things that we’re buying to (hopefully) do a little (or a lot) good. There are times when all of these things can’t all exist at the same time. But loves, there are times when they do! This month for our Fashion Gives Back we’re going to focus on Hostess gifts, one, because I found some amazing ones, two, because this is the month that we may need them. This month at Neiman Marcus, they are giving 10% of their Love to Give collection proceeds to youth arts education across the country. I’ve selected some of my favorites that would be perfect to take to any Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or holiday gatherings or to keep for yourself! You’re getting to shop, to give, and to do good, how can you beat that!
These are just a few of the things that you can get this month at Neiman Marcus this month with part of the proceeds going to youth arts. And if I do say so myself, they make amazing gifts for all of those holiday gatherings that this month brings! They also make great gifts to give yourself for surviving all those holiday gatherings this month!
Happy kick off to the Holidays! Thank you for shopping and giving back!

This is not the first time that you’ve seen this post, and I hope that each time you’ve shopped it. I don’t mean to beat you over the head with hurricane (Harvey, Irma, and Maria) relief, but I truly feel like it’s important. I know, you’ve given. I know, there is so much devastation that it feels overwhelming. I know, you don’t know where to start. I made the choice to repost this as I know that as time passes and things return to normal (for us, not for those affected by these incredible storms) we forget that people need us. Especially now, with 3.5 Million Americans in Puerto Rico who don’t have food, water, and electricity, I felt that anything we can do to give back, and here we do that by shopping, is a necessity. One note: as I did my research for this post, I couldn’t find any product whose proceeds helped Puerto Rico (I, too, was disappointed). So, I’ve listed and linked places where you can give to those who need us.
One of the updates I wanted to make to this post was the addition of my friend Kelly’s fundraiser for Harvey Victims, Love is Thicker. Kelly is an amazing friend, and someone who saw a need and couldn’t sit still–I admire people like that. With watercolor in hand, she designed this logo, now in both wearables and notecards, to raise money for Harvey victims. I love it. I love the message. I have a shirt and I hope that you want one too!
Loves, if you’re like me this week has been a little topsy-turvy. It’s not that I haven’t had things to do, and aren’t excited about numerous things; but I can’t get Houston out of my mind. It’s where I was born, my dad still lives there (and rode out the storm), I have other family there, and a ton of friends and special memories. I have spent my week worried, feeling helpless, and yet feeling inspired by the love and outpouring of humanity that people are showing each other. If you’re a little OCD, or pay close attention (I’m guilty), you know that Fashion Gives Back is normally on a Tuesday, and this Thursday should be “Fashion in the Wild”. You’re right. Here’s the thing, as I began to research products we could buy whose proceeds help the victims of Harvey, I noticed that some of the products are only available through the weekend, and as I wanted to feel like I could give back (and wanted to give you the chance to as well), I switched the schedule. Being the boss has it’s perks.
So below, I’ve rounded up some of my favorite products whose proceeds go to help people in Texas. (We keep saying Houston, but really the whole South East part of Texas is affected, the devastation is breathtaking and the rebuild will take years). This list is by no means the definite list, there are so many ways to give. Of course there’s Red Cross, yesterday I shared this Texas Montly article about how to help Harvery victims, this piece is also full of great ways to help those in Harvey’s wake. I know we can all choose how we give, but I know people need us right now, so let’s love each other super hard right now.
Without further ado, I present: Fashion Gives Back Shopping for Harvey
Gold Sheep Leggings
I love Gold Sheep Leggings and their amazing prints. This special Texas pair gives 25% of the profits to Harvey victims. And the waist band reads “#helphouston”. These are perfect for working out or running errands. You can get yours at Gold Sheep Clothing
I love bold socks, you love bold socks. Right now, 100% of the proceeds from the Y’ALL and Texas socks go to Harvey victims. You can get yours at here
This is the time of year for new planners and journals, and now May Designs has designed us some with Texas on them! 100% of the proceeds from the Texas collection go to Harvey Victims. Let’s get to writing. Get yours at May Designs
God Bless Texas Tee
We Texans love our state, and it’s a generally wide held belief that God likes us (a lot). This tee shares that out loud, and gives 100% of the profits to Harvey victims. Don’t let God be the only one blessing Harvey victims. Get yours here
Friday Night Lights was an amazing show (and true to life). Celebrate that show and give 100% of the proceeds to Harvey Victims. Another reason to love football? Get yours here
Help for Puerto Rico:
By no means the only Wishlist out there, but this NY Mayor is making sure items from this Amazon Wish List Get to the island.
This charity was set up by PR. This consumer report has vetted and lists the top charities to give to, as well as how your donation will be used.
I know many communities are having drives and working together to get supplies to Puerto Rico. I urge you to look into drives in your area. This is also a great time to call your representatives and demand that they pass a comprehensive relief package’ Puerto Rico is dying and the people there need our help.
Thanks for indulging me. I hope that you’re safe, your family is safe, and I hope you join me in using fashion to give back to those affected by the Hurricanes!
Loves! Last month, we started the series Fashion Gives back (because caring and charity and fashion are not mutually exclusive), you can read our first feature on BunnyJack Gives here. This month? We have a bunch of different companies, all with an amazing graphic tee, whose proceeds go towards a charity we believe in. Why? Everyone needs a great graphic tee (I personally love them with sequined maxi skirts), and one that gives back is an even better shirt!
Have a company that you love that does their part to make us more fashionable and heal the world? We’d love to hear about them! (Racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com). In the meantime, check out these tee shirts! Be fashionable and give back!
Want a site with several cute shirts that give back to a variety of causes (including the Salvation Army, Women’s Causes, Arts, and Refugees!), Sevenly is for you! Shop by design or cause, and Sevenly will not only get a you a great shirt, they will make sure your fashion gives back!
I’m in love with this simple, yet chic, Be Kind Collection!
The Word Changes
One word tee shirts that give 2/3 of the profits to help impoverished and hungry kids, and education for kids? I’m in! This month the word is Success (though you can shop their other words as well!), and if this success helps us look great and gives back, that’s truly successful in my book!
There are times that we forget that having running water (in two different kinds) makes us so, so rich. Thirst project aims to help solve the global water crisis by giving part of the proceeds of their line of shirts and sweatshirts to make sure people get clean water! Thirst Project
Arm the Animals
Love animals? This shirt that gives back is for you! Arm the Animals not only gives a part of their proceeds to Animal Welfare services, they also provide any graphic/social media/marketing services to any rescue services that need it! (And their signature shirt is too cute!) Arm the Animals
Irwin Garden Collection
Yes, loves this is not a graphic tee–but it’s beautiful and gives back to Planned Parenthood. In a collaboration with artist, AColli (@acolli on Instagram), this cotton shirt features artistic renderings of the nude female; it’s classy and a bit edgy at the same time (my fave combo!). Email firstname.lastname@example.org to preorder!
And lastly, and of my faves, in fashion that gives back: Ulla Johnson takes on refugees, solidarity, and the current climate with this “We Are All Immigrants” tee. 100% of the proceeds go to the ACLU, so it’s a fanatic way to look chic and make sure that you’re making a difference. Ulla Johnson
I hope that you found a shirt that you’d love to rock, that makes you feel chic and fashionable, and that also gives back!
Loves! I’m absolutely thrilled to introduce our newest series on site: Fashion Gives Back. As someone who loves clothes and shoes, but also wants to do her part to make the world a better place, it seemed like the natural thing to write about: companies who provide both amazing fashion and give back. Two things can be true at the same time: we can want to look great and we can do good. Being a fashion lover doesn’t mean you’re just shallow and care about material things; you can use your shopping capital to change the world. So once a month, I’ll be sharing with you one of my favorite companies that is working to change the world!
I hope you join me in looking fabulous and helping others!
BunnyJack is a luxury resell site, based in NY. They carry high end and amazing designers and pieces; everything you need from a little black dress to standard basics can be found here. But that’s not the best part. When you buy from Bunny Jack, they give 20-50% of your purchase to a charity. They let you know what charity will be receiving your donation, the charity’s mission statement, and how your donation can be used. BunnyJack is based on the principle of karma–that what goes around comes around, and that what we give we get. I love all of this! Vintage and resale clothing are the ultimate recycling (great for the world) and when we can use that to give more, I’m on board.
And loves, the fact that this company was founded on the story of the “Velveteen Rabbit” (and the founder’s Jack, a 17yo Jack Russel Terrier, both of whom are REAL LOVE, and we can all agree that the world needs some of that right now) is simply perfect. The fact is that even if you love Prada, you have something to give (those things aren’t mutually exclusive). I found BunnyJack via Instagram and their feed is as inspiring as their mission. As much as I love high end clothes, I respect shopping that helps me give back. And somewhere I can be inspired, respect the mission, and get a great product is on the top of my list.
Interested in collaboration with BunnyJack? Have a charity that could use the support of a company like Bunny Jack? Reach out to them! Not only is the service, quality, and shipping of Bunny Jack amazing, their willingness to work with others is above anything I’ve ever seen. BunnyJack truly seems to understand that we’re all in this together, and working together is the only way we can make this world a better place.
I hope you’ll join me in supporting BunnyJack through shopping, Instagram (@bunnyjackgives , also the name of their foundation), and spreading the word. Let’s get amazing clothes and change the world!
