#seeingStars

Sometimes the best outfits come out of desperation–I was running late the other morning, nothing fitting right, and then–I belted this sweater to wear as a dress and my life changed. While this star sweater is great over jeans, pants, skirts, worn over a slip and tied with a belt it became my new favorite dress. Easy, comfy, and so stylish–that’s what I can a win!

Happy Friday! XO RA

Not every outfit I shoot makes it into a post–or flat out some posts just don’t work the way I think they will. Here’s a collection of some things that didn’t quite make it–but I still love!

Vintage Dress

Vintage lovers can occasionally be broken down into two camps–those who love vintage that has a modern feel and can fit in with day to day outfits, or those who gravitate to a more “costume” look, meaning that it can feel that the outfit is more costume. Me? I love it all–but I do like when whatever I’m wearing feels fresh and current. This dress straddles that line–and I love it. It’s clearly very vintage–1920s, but paired with heels, or even loafers and it feels new. And isn’t that what’s exciting about vintage?

On Sunday Investment Piece turns 1! I am a little excited to see how much this product of love has grown–and am so grateful to all of you, as you are the biggest part of this! So it’s a bit ironic that one of my first posts, Wardrobe Workhorse featured this same jumpsuit. Spoiler alert: I still wear it all the time, and denim jumpsuits are in. Way in. I will tell you again how it goes with everything–heels, flats, flip flops even. Accessories can change it up, or it’s perfect just on it’s own! And there are so many options this season–short sleeve, long sleeve, etc. My advice? Get one!

Happy Friday! XO RA

It’s no secret that I love Vintage–but my favorite kind of vintage may be the kind that looks modern. I love mixing new and old pieces, and when the pieces are just simply well-made and look stunning it makes putting together an outfit so much easier. I also love how the shoes just slightly toughen the look!

Hope you have a great Wednesday! XO RA

Trend to Try: Bomber Jackets

image

Every season it seems as if there is a new trend to try, and this season it’s part throw back, part fresh alternative to the jean jacket, and in my humble opinion, part perfection. Yes, we are chatting Bomber Jackets. They’re every where–in the last few weeks I’ve worn three on the blog! Here’s why I love them: they’re stylish, offered at every price point and color, the embroidery to be found on some elevates this staple to a statement, and while the silhouette is by no means new, this season it feels so fresh. I love them with jeans, skirts, pants, over dresses, I’ve worn them to the gym over leggings–they’ve become my go-to. Do you have one? Do you love it? If not, willing to try?

I’d love to know! See below for some of my fave bomber jacket picks!

Down by the River

When saying that you needed a “little black dress”, no one ever said it had to be boring. I love this Milly take on the classic–off the shoulder, exciting sleeves–it’s easy to dress up, not too much for a more casual affair, and remains a classic. Even when you are just hanging out by the river.

Hope your Monday is a stunner loves! XO RA

Sometimes it’s just been a week and you have an attitude. Sometimes you’re just not in the mood to deal. Sometimes you let your shirt do the talking. For whatever reason you choose, I absolutely love this Reformation jacket (worn as a top) and its cheeky message. I can’t stop wearing it. And these jeans? Closest to vintage I’ve found in a new pair.

Whatever your attitude is today, I hope the fact that it’s Friday makes you smile! XO RA

Making an Investment a Basic

image

I started this blog not only because of my love for fashion, but because I truly believe that fashion can be a great investment and can help you express yourself. I’ve spent a good deal of my time saving and investing in pieces that I know will last–but the question can often be, now that I have this investment, how can I use it on a regular basis? The answer can depend of course on what your investment piece was–sometimes it’s simple, buy a great bag and use it! However, I think we all can be guilty of saving for something and then treating it as if its too precious, when the point of buying is to use it! This is not a call to treat great things poorly (I can write another time about the internal cringing I do when I see expensive bags being thrown on the floor), but rather a call to enjoy your life (that special day you’re waiting for is today) and to make the investment piece you worked for a basic!

Take for example this amazing Chanel dress. Chanel is known for being timeless and classic–and this dress is all of that, and while the temptation is there to save an expensive dress for a special day, I’ve made it a point to wear it as a basic–like any other black shift dress. The result? Even grocery runs feel special. And it looks great with everything from sneakers to heels. So what are you saving for a rainy day? Why not wear it today?

Happy Wednesday! XO RA

Oscar Fashion

image

I’m sure by now you’ve seen all the images from the Oscar Red carpet-you have your favorites, have tried to find Margot Robie’s dress online (or is that just me?). Being an actress the Oscars have always held a special place in my heart, and the red carpet is one of my favorites! It is the one where not only does anything go–there is an air of glamor and “old-Hollywood” that I just simply adore. But you’ve seen the pictures. So let’s talk after party–the best things happen at the Vanity Fair party, and others throughout town, where the stars change and let loose a little bit. See below for some of my picks from the after parties–I’d love to know, what was your favorite Oscar fashion? Favorite after party fashion?

Happy Tuesday! XO RA
