It’s no secret that I love vintage, and you’ve probably caught on that I love Valentino–so when I find a treasure like this vintage Valentino skirt set–it’s like heaven. A bit “Dynasty” but simple and comfortable–I love that it pairs well together but has also given me endless options separately. (including when I just threw the skirt on over a leotard when a friend popped by unexpectedly, and I’ve worn the sweater on repeat with jeans). It manages to feel both fresh and new!

Packing Tips

image

Friends, I have something to confess: I am not a good packer. The ladies and lads who can pack for a month in a carry-on and still seem to have everything they need? Not me. I’m more the type to feel as if I need a fresh pair of pants for every day I’m away, not to mention the “just in case” outfits I pack for the things I imagine (to be fair, I could randomly be invited to a red carpet event). This from the lady who is perfectly comfortable wearing the same pjs for a week at home. However, this starts a month full of travel for me, and I am desperate to change my ways–as well as finally master the art of packing. So I went to masters (my well-packed and traveled friends) as well as the internet to get as many tips as I could! The best packing tips I have found are as follows:

  • Roll your clothes, don’t fold them. This makes more space in your suitcase
  • Limit yourself to one color palette. Out of this choose a pant, a jean, a dress, a flat and a heel. Build tops (the rule is 3 per bottom) around this.
  • If needed take one neutral coat
  • No more than three pairs of shoes (how with workouts I am going to do this is beyond me)
  • You need only one pair of pjs per week you’re away
  • When planning make a list of things you’re doing  and what you’d like to wear to each activity. Then see what you can double up–wearing the same jeans (no one will know) or using yoga pants for sight seeing.
  • If you have to add color or a pop to your outfits chose accessories–scarves, jewelry are easier to pack and take up less room.

I plan on incorporating as many of these tips as I can! I’d love to know–are you a light packer? What are your tips? I will keep you updated on my progress!

Happy Tuesday! XO RA

Winter Lace

Winter is no time to put away your lace–in fact there’s something unexpected about a lace top in the middle of the cold! My tips for winter lace–keep it long sleeved, make sure it’s paired with something a little on the warmer side (love these pants but jeans or a skirt work well too!) and don’t forget your coat!
Hope that if you’re on the East Coast you survived Jonas (and know I’m irrationally slightly jealous! This beach gal has never seen that much snow!)

Coat Days

It’s taken its time, but winter is finally here! No matter your opinion on the cold, the great questions can be: how to look chic while staying warm? The trick? A statement coat. When your coat is a showstopper, you can build a look around it-keeping warm and looking amazing. Win. Win. My fave pairing is a coat worn as a dress over jeans–but there are so many ways to make your coat the show-stopper. What matters is that you find a coat that you love, and wear it!

Stay warm out there lovers! XO RA

70s Vibe

Internet Loves, I have a confession to make–I have fallen head over heels for the Gucci S/S campaign (and fashion). If you’re following me on Pintrest you’ve caught on–it’s all I can seem to pin! From the skateboarding to the mix of prints to the 70s vibe to the slight “granny chic” (for lack of better term)–I want it all. Gucci has mastered making that late 60s/ 70s vibe effortlessly cool–the big glasses, the platforms, the big bows–so when I found this vintage dress while shopping on Etsy, I simply couldn’t resist. It’s everything I love about the Gucci campaign–the bow, the print, the mix of textures, the 70s vibe that somehow doesn’t feel dated. Now I just have to learn to skateboard!

Hope your Tuesday is cool! XO RA

Black Out

As the saying goes: “I’ll stop wearing black when they make a darker color”. Now, I’m a fan of color–but when I need to feel chic and pulled together (no matter what) black can’t be beat. I love the button detail of the jeans–love the neck scarf–and this shoes are some of my favorite (a little bit of ballerina, a little bit of rock and roll), they also add that hint of color. All of the pieces look great apart too–so everyone wins!

Fringed

The question of the day: do amazing boots cancel out messy hair? Let’s hope so. I cannot tell you how much I love these boots-the fringe, the color, the way they make me feel as if I’m back on my high school drill team–and the fact that they’re a statement. They go great with jeans, skirts, and make me feel special–what else do you need? And I also love these 3×1 jeans–the inseam makes everyone look longer and leaner–and who doesn’t want that!

Happy Wednesday! XO RA

Golden Globes Fashion

It’s Awards Season! And this past weekend’s Golden Globes gave us so many gorgeous gowns to drool over, and some beauty tips to try! See below for some of my favorites, and tips to incorporate the red-carpet style into your wardrobe!

Sequins
image

image
Of all the nights to show some sparkle an awards show is it! Brie Larson’s gold gown was one of my favorite dresses–and I loved that she kept her hair simple. While sequins aren’t thought of as “everyday” dressing, I actually love a sequined tee with jeans, or a a t-shirt with a sequined skirt.
Some of my picks:
Tees: Asos
JC Penny
Skirts:
H&M
Asos

Old Hollywood Glamour
image
image
There will never come a time when old-school Hollywood is not in vogue. I love the necklines of each of these dresses–just enough skin, and I love the long, straight skirt. This feel can easily be replicated with an off the shoulder top and pencil skirt or pants–instant glamour.
My fave off the shoulder tops:
Shopbop
Shopbop

Show Some Skin
image

While the front of this dress is so lovely–I loved the back! It was just so subtly sexy! There are a ton of ways to incorporate some skin–a blackless dress or top, but this dress made me excited for Tibi dress that should hit stores in a month or so!

Color of the Season
image
Not only did Cate look beautiful–the color of her gown was spot on. Blush, or rose quartz, will be everywhere this year–and it looks great on everyone!
Some of my picks:
Blaque Label
Bec&Bridge

Beauty

I have a confession–doing my own hair is not my forte–but I loved this braid and faux bob from the red carpet! I’m convinced I can do the braid (one high ponytail, one low, braid together), but the faux bob intimidates me–although I’m desperate to try it!
I’ve found this, this, and this tutorial that promises that I can do it myself–we will see!

I’d love to know–which were your faves? XO RA

1940s Jacket

imageimageimageimageimageimage

Sometimes you find a vintage piece that just changes your day–that’s the story of this absolutely stunning 1940s Jacket. The beading is so intricate and the fit is superb-I cannot rave enough about it. It looks great with jeans–but would also go great with a skirt or over a dress. I couldn’t decide if I liked the heels or the flats better–so I wore both! Every time I put this jacket on it makes me feel special–and it’s helping me get through this Monday!

Hope your Monday is just as special! XO RA
