Fall Basics

imageimageimageimage

There’s something so comforting about fall basics: a great trench, rain boots, paper thin turtle necks. This week the air has turned just a bit crisp and it’s finally beginning to feel like fall! There seemed no better time to pull out the basics–made just a little bit special with the addition of overalls–and go exploring. Hope you have a fabulous weekend!! XO RA

Hint of Drama

imageimageimageimageimage

One of my favorite outfit tips is to take something basic–like all black–and make it pop. And tops like this Solace London one make it easy. Even though it’s a crop–high waisted pants keep it classy, and these Sophia Webster shoes just make everything better! These pieces also go great separately, and add the same amount of drama. You may never look at black the same way again!

Happy Wednesday! XO RA

Some dresses are just too special to be held to one season. Take in point this Johanna Ortiz dress. The green color is perfect for fall, I’m loving the floral details, and the structure of the slight train is just amazing. Paired with velvet shoes it fits right in with the season, but I know come spring it will just go just as great with sandals!

Happy Monday! XO RA

High Fashion Halloween

imageimageimageimage

As an actress and lover of all things dress up, I LOVE Halloween! And there are so many options out there–but what I love is finding a high fashion theme to bring my love of fashion and dressing up together! This year I’ve chosen Cleopatra! I have this amazing AAVintedge caftan which completely makes the look! Other ideas I love Lady MacBeth (a lacy nightgown is all you need), Marie Antoinette (I’d do it for the wig alone), and Cruella DeVille (FUR COAT!). I’d love to know–what are you being this year?

90s Redux

They say everything comes back–and while I don’t know who “they” are, sometimes they get it right. Why it can pay to invest in high quality, classic items? They last. And even if they are a trend, they come back. Case in point? The slip-dress, a 1990s staple, is re-emerging. And I love it–I think silk and lined, solid color is the way to go–but from there the options are limitless. This was shot on a foggy and rainy morning with bare feet and last night’s hair–but it looks just as great with heels, with flats, layered, or simply alone. And the best part might be that you can wear it straight to bed.

I’d love to know–are you embracing this trend (again)?

Happy Monday! XO RA

Sometimes you find a vintage piece and can’t wait to design an outfit around it. That’s the story here! I found this Victorian stunner at Polkadotsand Moonbeams and couldn’t wait to wear it. The construction is a dream and while it’s a formal piece, it felt just right by the pool.

Hope your Friday is just superb! XO RA

Contradictions

imageimageimageimage

There’s something about a contradiction that I just love–high necks, short skirts, and lace up heels are feeling just perfect for fall. Something about this outfit feels updated mod and vintage to me at the same time–and most importantly it’s all comfy!

Hope you have a great weekend! Happy Friday! XO RA

Are PJs Something We’re Doing?

imageimageimageimage

They’re something we’re doing.

As Selena Gomez showed us, Pajamas are having a moment–and not in the bedroom. All over the streets of Paris during fashion week stylish women were wearing PJs as suits–and ya’ll, I like it. It is effortlessly chic, comfy, and just subtlety sexy! However-I don’t recommend just rolling out of bed–here are my tips to master PJ dressing!
1. Make sure that they fit–while most pajama sets do fit a little loosely, this is not the time for over-sized dressing! To pull off the polished PJ look make sure that the set you love is fitted!

2. Hair, make-up, shoes–these need to be done! I’m not saying you have to wear heels or have a perfect blow-out, but the idea is to make sure that you look like you have an outfit on, and haven’t just rolled out of bed.

3. Avoid cutesy prints–yes, they’re cute, solids, stripes or florals look the most pulled together

I’d love to know: are you going to dare to wear PJs in public?
