Trend to Try: Colored Tights

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Colored Tights

Loves, I have a confession to make. Usually when we chat trend to try, I’ve tried the trend. The trend might be something I’ve been wearing and love, or something that I’ve recently tried and decided that you HAVE to try. This trend? Colored Tights? I haven’t tried it. In fact, I’m a little scared of it.

BUT. Colored tights are a trend. Don’t believe me? Read Vogue, Man Repeller, any trend list, or head over to Atlantic Pacific (who rocks this trend beautifully). Colored tights are a thing. So, are they a thing we should try?

Investment Piece: Black and White with a pop

I love a great patterned tight. I love fishnets. I love wearing tights.

So, are colored tights the next step? And if so, what do we wear them with?

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Colored Tights

These are my thoughts: we have two options when it comes to colored tights.

One, wear them as a color pop. If your outfit is monochrome, your tights can be the pop it may need. I think this might work best with black or camel outfits. BUT. If you’re willing to play with the color of your tights, why not experiment?

Two, wear tights the same color as your outfit. If this counts there’s a chance all of us have been ahead of this trend when we wear all black and black tights. Somehow, I think this colored tights trend may pack more of a punch when the color is not black. Red, purple, blue, yellow’ why stop at black?

Though, this is not the part where I talk badly about black tights. We all need some. And black is a great color.

However, back to colored tights. Do you dare? With what? What did people say?

I can make you a deal, if you can try this trend, so can I! So, what do you say?

And yes, if you email me (racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com) with a colored tights outfit, I will wear it!

I’ve linked some colored tights below! Happy Trend to Try!

Trend to Try: Leopard (EVERYTHING)

#InvestmentPiece #trendtotry #leopard

Ok. You got me. Leopard is not a trend to try. In fact, haven’t you heard? Leopard is a neutral (everyone says so). I love a great leopard piece: shoes, skirts, dresses, pants, jackets, tops, you name it. It goes with everything (I love mine with pops of color and concert tees) and yet manages to stand out. I’m a fan of anything that knows when to blend in and when to say something, so it’s no secret that leopard and I are old friends:

And I’ve always done my best to alert you to all the amazing leopard pieces I find. I feel as if leopard makes an appearance on every fall trends list (see the one I did this year here), but this year is special. Yes, leopard is still on the list, but look in every store, every magazine, every editorial. Leopard EVERYTHING is everywhere.

Leopard suits (I love the blue one from Banana Republic pictured above. Shop it here). Leopard pants. Leopard shoes. Leopard skirts. Leopard dresses. Leopard everything you can think of. Not only is it available everywhere you shop, but we’re being shown outfits, outfit inspiration, and outfits to try that include leopard not as a neutral or as a statement but as the star, and leopard everything. I LOVE it. Leopard suits? Let’s wear them. Leopard skirts with leopard shoes? Let’s do it. A leopard dress and a leopard belt? I’m in!

Trend to Try: Lingerie

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie
You walk into the room and turn heads, smiling to yourself because you have a little secret…..

A great trend to try right now? Lingerie! And no, I don’t mean in your private time, but don’t worry Mom, I’m not suggesting that you go out in just your bra!

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie

So, what exactly do I mean that lingerie is a trend to try? I mean what you think it might mean, I think there are times (and ways) to wear your lingerie in public. I also think that you should! What is made to be worn underneath is often so beautiful, why not show it off?!?

The above look is the combination of a teddy and a skirt. Simple, elegant, and a tad bit fun (who doesn’t like knowing that they’re pushing the envelope!) All over social media and magazines you might be seeing women daring to wear their lingerie in public, and I love it! It’s edgy and common place all at the same time.

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie

Ways I love to wear this trend? Bodysuits or teddy’s with jeans/pants/skirts. A peak of a bra from underneath a sweater. A great piece of lingerie under a sheer top or dress. If you’re really daring, a great bra as a top. While this look may not be safe for work, there are so many ways to be creative with this trend! And let’s say you did need to make this look a tad bit more conservative? Layering! Wear a shirt or turtleneck under your lingerie. Wear your bra over your dress. Make sure that you have nipple guards on. Put a huge sweater over it, and just let it peak out. A bit daring? Yes! But loves, sometimes our fashion can be a little daring, and we can be better for it!

Does this trend call your name? Do you hate it? Do you think there’s a way for you to rock it? I’d love to hear about it!

Trend to Try: Back Packs

I don’t know that it’s a new trend, or if we should even call it a trend; however, I do know that a trend you must try this fall is a back pack. They’re not just for back to school.

From leather to canvas, more school like to chic, there’s a back pack for every kind of woman you want to be.

And here’s the great thing about this trend: not only can these backpacks be chic, it’s a trend that’s completely practical! I don’t know about you, but I have days where I need everything-from my computer to makeup. And while a ton of bags for everything isn’t the worst idea, having a chic back to hold everything is so much more practical–and easy!

From gold to classics, to ones with charms there’s a backpack for every price point and style. I’m in love with classic leather ones. And what I love even more? Vintage ones! On Etsy and sites such as the RealReal and Vestiaire Collective, you can find vintage and resale luxury backpacks. From Coach to Dooney&Burke, to Gucci and Louis Vuitton, there are some amazing (pre worn in) and classic back packs to sample. Chic and a bargain!

The other great thing about this trend to try? It’s not really a trend, backpacks may not always be fashionable, but can you name a time when they don’t sell them? So the great news? Indulge your whims here, though I recommend a classic leather option, because this a bag you can carry forever. Yes, that may take some of the trend out, but it means that you’re making an investment. And how great is that?
