Fringed

The question of the day: do amazing boots cancel out messy hair? Let’s hope so. I cannot tell you how much I love these boots-the fringe, the color, the way they make me feel as if I’m back on my high school drill team–and the fact that they’re a statement. They go great with jeans, skirts, and make me feel special–what else do you need? And I also love these 3×1 jeans–the inseam makes everyone look longer and leaner–and who doesn’t want that!

Happy Wednesday! XO RA

Golden Globes Fashion

It’s Awards Season! And this past weekend’s Golden Globes gave us so many gorgeous gowns to drool over, and some beauty tips to try! See below for some of my favorites, and tips to incorporate the red-carpet style into your wardrobe!

Sequins

Of all the nights to show some sparkle an awards show is it! Brie Larson’s gold gown was one of my favorite dresses–and I loved that she kept her hair simple. While sequins aren’t thought of as “everyday” dressing, I actually love a sequined tee with jeans, or a a t-shirt with a sequined skirt.
Some of my picks:
Tees: Asos
JC Penny
Skirts:
H&M
Asos

Old Hollywood Glamour

There will never come a time when old-school Hollywood is not in vogue. I love the necklines of each of these dresses–just enough skin, and I love the long, straight skirt. This feel can easily be replicated with an off the shoulder top and pencil skirt or pants–instant glamour.
My fave off the shoulder tops:
Shopbop

Show Some Skin

While the front of this dress is so lovely–I loved the back! It was just so subtly sexy! There are a ton of ways to incorporate some skin–a blackless dress or top, but this dress made me excited for Tibi dress that should hit stores in a month or so!

Color of the Season
image
Not only did Cate look beautiful–the color of her gown was spot on. Blush, or rose quartz, will be everywhere this year–and it looks great on everyone!
Some of my picks:
Blaque Label
Bec&Bridge

I have a confession–doing my own hair is not my forte–but I loved this braid and faux bob from the red carpet! I’m convinced I can do the braid (one high ponytail, one low, braid together), but the faux bob intimidates me–although I’m desperate to try it!
I’ve found this, this, and this tutorial that promises that I can do it myself–we will see!

I’d love to know–which were your faves? XO RA

1940s Jacket

imageimageimageimageimageimage

Sometimes you find a vintage piece that just changes your day–that’s the story of this absolutely stunning 1940s Jacket. The beading is so intricate and the fit is superb-I cannot rave enough about it. It looks great with jeans–but would also go great with a skirt or over a dress. I couldn’t decide if I liked the heels or the flats better–so I wore both! Every time I put this jacket on it makes me feel special–and it’s helping me get through this Monday!

Hope your Monday is just as special! XO RA

Sunday. Chronicles: Detox

image

Relax my internet loves: this is not where I tell you that we’re only drinking juice (although I am a fan of the green juice and have been trying to include a few more in my routine).  But they seem to be everywhere, and in all forms, right? It’s the season of cleanses, closet-cleaning, clutter- fixers, new diets, and in general detoxing. And I’m not mad at it- of course to your own level and need, I like the ideas of stripping things down and only adding back to your life the things that you truly want and need.  Again, I’m not just talking about juice.

I am drinking more juice- I try to eat moderately and clean throughout the year but after the holidays, it’s nice to reset my diet. I’m cleaning out my closets- eliminating things that I don’t love or wear, making space for things I will. But more than that, I’m trying to sit still some- to look at my life, stripped down and making sure that the things I add into it are only the things that I love or need. You can call it mindful or focused, use the word detox, but I’m making a  conscious effort to take this time of “stripping down” and making sure that the building back up results in a life I’m in love with.

No form of detox is easy- there are scary questions  like: what do I want my life to look like? Where do I want to be? What do I need to do to get there? The answers aren’t always easy- but they aren’t always awful. Like that green juice, I’m taking this time to enjoy doing things that are good for me.

I’d love to know: are you detoxing (in any form)? What are you letting go of?

Wishing us all a week of easy letting go and amazing shoes!! XO RA

Who says the holidays are the only times you have occasion to dress up? I contend that at any time of the year you may need to be dressed up and you should be prepared! I love this MacGraw dress–it’s deceptively simple, and the lace detail keeps it fresh. The mock neck and full skirt are details I adore–and while it is a dress, you could also get away with wearing flats!

Happy Friday! XO RA

I hesitate to call this a trend to try–the style of tying a scarf around your neck has been around for ever (give or take). And Internet Friends–I love it, I’ve worn it before here, and cannot think of an easier way to upgrade an outfit (from a sweatshirt to a buttondown to a dress), to look expensive, or to keep your neck warm. I, personally, am a fan of silk or cotton scarves (the square ones lend themselves to this style easily, but larger ones work as well!), but use what you got! I use scarves to add a pop of color, dress up anything, or make me feel a little more pulled together. I’d love to know–what are your thoughts? Do you rock the neck scarf?

Happy Thursday! XO RA

Fur Days

It’s finally beginning to feel like winter and that can only mean one thing–it’s time for fur! I love fur–and while I understand those who don’t, wearing vintage fur is how I navigate the subject! There’s also a great selection of faux fur out there–meaning you can get the look in more than one way! I think fur looks great not only dressed up, but also thrown over jeans. See below for some of my current faves and shop below some of the best places to find vintage jackets!

The first week of the New Year: holidays are done, decorations done, resolutions started (maybe), and the perfect time to dream about the beach and spring fashion. Right? Right.

One thing I’m dreaming of-this Mansur Gavriel Circle Bag, which just may be the #itbag of the season. I absolutely love the vintage feel, the unique shape, and the colors (several are not pictured here, I have my eye on a tobacco one!). You may know Mansur Gavriel from their “it” bag of last season, the bucket, which sold out many places, but for being an “it” favorite these aren’t outrageously priced, and the quality is superb! While not expected in stores till late Feb/March you can preorder one at Moda Operandi

So,what are your thoughts? Do you love it like I do? Are we ordering together?

Happy Tuesday! XO RA

New Year Sparkles

imageimageimageimageimageimage

It’s the first week of the new year–you’re probably back at work or your routine, the holidays put away, and starting in on your resolutions. However, that doesn’t mean that your outfits have to be any less sparkle-ly. That’s why I love this Jcrew blazer–the sequins are subtle, meaning that it’s work appropriate but can also be used for a night out (with any sort of pants/skirt/jeans). And it’s just a little way to hang onto the holidays!

Happy Monday! XO RA

Jacket: Jcrew and on sale! Also love these matching pants

Sunday Chronicles: Looking Back/Planning Forward

image

Internet Friends!! We made it through another year! I hope it was full of joy and love, friends and family, that the bad things led to the best things and that you’re excited for the new, blank year in front of us! And we have a new year! I’m one for lists and goals and planning so I love this time of year–the time to sit and think about what we want to build and create in the new year, and to look back (with gratitude I hope) on what we’ve been through.

This past year was a big year for me- I started this blog–and I could not be more grateful for you. Thank you for letting me into your lives–and have fun while doing so! And I started going back and forth between LA and TX to be there for family. It was a year full of transitions and yet I could not be more excited about what’s to come! Because I will ask you a few of my goals for the year:

Expand the site! We have some youtube work coming your way, as well as trying to deliver the best possible content to you!

Personally, still iron out the back and forth issue, travel, some art–and I have some side projects that simply excite me!

Also–I’m working on being better at the business (401Ks, etc) side. Being in the creative field I have not always paid close attention to the “math” side, but I’m determined that this is the year I conquer that!

I’d love to know–what are you planning? How can we keep each other on track?

Again, thank you for letting me share this journey with you. I am so excited for 2016, and a large part of that is you!

Happy New Year! Let’s kick some ass! XO RA

Here are some of my fave pics from the last year–I look forward to sharing many more!
