On one of my recent trips in Texas I went to an opera with my mom about Lady Bird–and I couldn’t resist wearing this vintage gem. It was worn by a Miss Texas in the 60s–and it’s just so stunning. The silk is in perfect condition, the attached scarf details still feel modern, and it made me feel as if I should be wearing a crown–which is always a plus! I know it’s kinda cheesy–but the tie in made me smile all night–I do love my fashion, and I love not taking it seriously!
If you’ve been following along you might have caught on that I am a firm believer that style is not just in how we dress, but in how we decorate, our art, our books- everything. If you’re really following along you also know that I’m a Gucci girl and completely obsessed with their current lines. The only surprise here is you may not know how much of a Florence and the Machine fan I am- but seriously she’s amazing and if you are the least bit a fan of live music you must see her live.
So combined it has to be a given that I love the way Gucci is dressing Florence for the current tour. (Side note: she’s been named the face for their fragrance campaign and I can’t wait!). When we chatted Met Gala we talked about fashion as art- and there are some artists that just fit together. And Florence and Gucci just fit. Both a little warrior princess, a little bohemian, a bit traditional, but all together dreamy. I look at these clothes and listen to the music- and I want to be them both!
I’m not partial at all, but fully believe that every bit of this collaboration is perfect. If nothing else it makes me want to buy everything- because that will make me this dreamy, right?
(side note: I would hang these sketches in my house, I’m that obsessed).
I’d love to know: what collaborations inspire you like this? Do you have artists that just click for you?
One of the questions that I get asked most often is if I wear the clothes I showcase on the blog in real life. The answer, loves, is a resounding yes. I got this Self Portrait dress last year–and have worn it to brunches, showers, and events. It’s honestly one of my favorite pieces! I wore it last week to an Alumni event (I went to TCU and it fits the color scheme perfectly!) The only thing I think when I wear this dress now? I might get the shoulder straps shortened–but other than that, you can catch me wearing it on the regular!

You know I love a good suit—and that includes skirt suit sets, like this vintage stunner. I simply couldn’t pass up the ribbon fabric (do they even make that anymore?), the details, the belt. It makes me feel grown up and old-Hollywood glamorous all at the same time. I also love that the separates work–I’ve worn this top with jeans or pants, a button down with the skirt–it’s like it’s double the outfit!

As you may know last week I had a quick trip and was determined to pack light! So I chose a capsule wardrobe (Look at the pieces and get shopping details here )
I have to admit: as a woman who loves her closet and loves playing in it, I was completely apprehensive about only having ten pieces to play with. However, loves, I think I could have gotten by on less. Shocking, even to me. In fact I only wore the sweater as a workout cover up! What I learned is that a well thought out wardrobe can be simple and yet give you fresh looks every day.
I got the most use out of my jeans and wore the dress and jumpsuit a few times as well. By the end of my trip I was ready to have more options, but I’m trying to take the lesson of less is more into my shopping and closet – and be extra grateful for all I have to play with!
I did love the feeling of light packing but now that I’m back with my full closet I may enjoy playing in my closet this weekend!
A gentle and loving reminder: when you find great vintage you scoop it up! And that’s exactly what I did with this stunning Valentino (look at the details on those buttons!!). When I visited Caitlyn and AAVintedge last month I left with full hands–and this was part of my loot! I love the slight 80s shoulders, the buttons, the way it could be a suit–and yet, I’ve only dressed it down! The lesson: buying things like this is never something you will regret!

As you know, I just love a good cheeky shirt–or jacket, or dress. I just love that hint of personality that comes through. I find it funny! So when I found this patch, I had to have it! It is a blend of everything I love–the attitude and the high quality. I simply ironed it onto a great JCrew shirt–easy! And these jeans–super flattering, super comfy. The shoes? Vintage YSL gems that I’ve been wearing with everything!
Hope your Friday is full of the right kind of attitude!! XO RA
I am horrible at packing–I always over pack, over think, pack for the “what-ifs”, and seem to only feel comfortable if I leave the house with a minimum of five pairs of shoes. This complicates my life simply because I have two bases–which means I travel. And have a tendency to shop wherever I am. I have a quick week trip for a week, and have committed to myself that I wouldn’t fall into this pattern again. So I’ve culled together a “capsule wardrobe” for myself. About 10 pieces that can be mixed and matched. (this doesn’t count my workout clothes). My goal is to be able to have options that are chic, leave room for new treasures, but not have to be lugging over full bags! You can keep up with my daily outfits on Instagram (@racheladelicia) and I will post a wrap up when I return!
Believe it or not, I had to be talked into this skirt. This gorgeous, vintage Versace skirt. That I loved. That I knew I could style. The point? We all need a little boost sometimes–and I’m so glad I got one! I love the high waist, the pockets and the print that feels modern. Paired with my new fave silhouette (off the shoulder –and notice the tie sleeve) and these amazing shoes (geometric heel) I am incredibly grateful I have it!
Flared cropped pants seem to be everywhere–and I resisted for a while. However, there’s a rule of thumb–that if you can think of at least 3 ways to wear something (or 3 occasions) it’s a good buy. And loves, I just couldn’t stop thinking of ways to wear these pants–like above, and with crop tops. More heels, more flats. I’m excited for fall to wear boots underneath and a sweater. And because I couldn’t stop styling them in my head–I had to have them! I think I chose well!
