I don’t think it’s any secret that I have champagne tastes. Though not always, and I attempt to find reasonable pieces, and show a wide range of price points in my shopping picks! However, there are times that only champagne will do. However, champagne isn’t always in the budget. What do you do?
Well, there are many things you can do when there is a piece that you know you have to have.
Save
I’m a big fan of this one! Not only is it an accountant approved activity, I try to make it fun. When there’s a piece I’m saving for, I make sure I set aside cash each week for it (yes, in a special piggy bank). And then when I have saved enough, it’s like Christmas morning. (Yes, I’ve gotten so excited I’ve clapped in a Valentino store. I’m not sorry. The boots!)
Think Outside the Box
I’m still waiting to hear from Gucci if they will take my kidney in exchange for shoes.
But one of my fave ways to satisfy my champagne tastes on a Trader Joe’s Budget?
Resale
We know that I love vintage (the ultimate form of recycling), and resale is an offshoot of that! There are a ton of places you can find new, on trend pieces- often for a fraction of the price! The trick? You have to search (most sites have an alert feature you can use), you have to be willing to wait (seriously, that’s the hardest part), and you have to be a bit flexible (not saying don’t find your perfect piece, but maybe cast a wider net!). I can’t tell you how many pieces I have that are from resale, and how much I love them! From the Gucci bag pictured above to this Gucci Dress:
And these Celine Boots:
Champagne Tastes. Not Champagne Prices!
Some Resale Places I adore: Vestaire Collective, TheRealReal, Tradesy, and if you’re into brick and mortar ReccessLA in LA is a favorite!
I’d love to know: where do you shop resale?
