Winter Essentials

Investment Piece: Winter Essentials

Things I learned this week: We now name winter storms, there is such a thing as a winter hurricane, and there are people who may wake up today to over 12″ of snow. As a Southern Lady and LA baby, I don’t know how to wrap my head around that. This winter I got to see snow (I was like a 5yo about it) and it was cold for quite a stretch in TX. This is the most winter I’ve ever experienced. However, across the country it’s been down right frigid. Loves, it’s winter and it’s time we dress for it.

Investment Piece: Winter Essentials

If you’re like me, this weather may have you a little excited- I have some jackets that I’m just thrilled to wear! On the other hand, this weather may have you stumped as how to dress fashionably while staying warm (and let’s be clear, staying warm is the priority). My take: layers are important, staying warm is important, and there are some essentials. I think that if you have the right essentials, any warm item you love underneath will make you look amazing, snow or not.

My winter essentials? Glad you asked!

A Camel Coat
Investment Piece: Winter Essentials

Any great coat can be a winter essential, but I love camel! It’s sophisticated, adds a little something to any outfit, remains a neutral, and no matter what price point you’re working with, camel looks expensive. My favorite coats are midi or full length (when I want warmth, I want warmth!), and I love a clean line. Pay attention to lining, and the cut, as this will help any camel coat look high end! Chic winter essentials? I’m in!

Flat Boots
Investment Piece: Winter Essentials
Loves, I love heels, but in my brief winter experience I’ve learned that heels and ice don’t mix. And winter brings ice. The solution? Winter Essential number two is flat boots, and yes they are just as stylish as your heels! Wear them with jeans, pants, skirts, dresses, and most importantly, lots of warm layers.
My picks:

A Statement Scarf
Investment Piece: Winter Essentials
One of the best ways to stay warm is to cover up your neck. But who says that your scarf has to be drab. I love a great winter scarf, from prints to fur! They make an outfit, make a statement, and make you warm! Winter essential for sure!

I’d love to know: what are your winter essentials and how are you staying warm?

Be cozy out there! XO RA
