Hint of Drama

imageimageimageimageimage

One of my favorite outfit tips is to take something basic–like all black–and make it pop. And tops like this Solace London one make it easy. Even though it’s a crop–high waisted pants keep it classy, and these Sophia Webster shoes just make everything better! These pieces also go great separately, and add the same amount of drama. You may never look at black the same way again!

Shopping Faves : ShopBop

Shopping is an art–but that doesn’t mean it needs to be intimidating or that you need to spend your time running from store to store! For one of our new series here at InvestmentPiece we wanted to showcase some of our favorite places to shop, and first up: ShopBop.com! Honestly, Internet friends, I love them–and would have to say my closet does too!

Pros: ShopBop offers a wide range of brands, with wide price ranges, their sales are stunner (including their Friends and Families where everything is at least 25% off). Inventory is updated daily during the work-week, and they offer free 3 day shipping as well as returns.

Tips: ShopBop Wishlist is one of my fave features ever. Not only does it let you store items for future purchase (with an option to share your list), they also alert you to low stock and when your favorites are on sale. You can also make a list of designers you love, and similarly you will be updated with new items/sale from said designer. Things to note: ShopBop Sale is updated/starts on Tuesdays so it’s a great day to check in and see what’s on sale!

Cons: With no brick and mortar store you may need to trust their judgement on sizes–although my experience with their Customer Service has been amazing, they are always willing to help and try to accommodate as much as possible. They don’t carry super high end designers (think Gucci, Valentino) but as those can be found other places I have never missed them!

All in All I would say ShopBop is a must to add to your shopping rotation! Do you shop there? Do you love them? Pictured below are some of my finds and click the link to some things I’m loving there now!

Some dresses are just too special to be held to one season. Take in point this Johanna Ortiz dress. The green color is perfect for fall, I’m loving the floral details, and the structure of the slight train is just amazing. Paired with velvet shoes it fits right in with the season, but I know come spring it will just go just as great with sandals!

Happy Monday! XO RA

High Fashion Halloween

imageimageimageimage

As an actress and lover of all things dress up, I LOVE Halloween! And there are so many options out there–but what I love is finding a high fashion theme to bring my love of fashion and dressing up together! This year I’ve chosen Cleopatra! I have this amazing AAVintedge caftan which completely makes the look! Other ideas I love Lady MacBeth (a lacy nightgown is all you need), Marie Antoinette (I’d do it for the wig alone), and Cruella DeVille (FUR COAT!). I’d love to know–what are you being this year?

90s Redux

They say everything comes back–and while I don’t know who “they” are, sometimes they get it right. Why it can pay to invest in high quality, classic items? They last. And even if they are a trend, they come back. Case in point? The slip-dress, a 1990s staple, is re-emerging. And I love it–I think silk and lined, solid color is the way to go–but from there the options are limitless. This was shot on a foggy and rainy morning with bare feet and last night’s hair–but it looks just as great with heels, with flats, layered, or simply alone. And the best part might be that you can wear it straight to bed.

I’d love to know–are you embracing this trend (again)?

Happy Monday! XO RA

Sometimes you find a vintage piece and can’t wait to design an outfit around it. That’s the story here! I found this Victorian stunner at Polkadotsand Moonbeams and couldn’t wait to wear it. The construction is a dream and while it’s a formal piece, it felt just right by the pool.

Hope your Friday is just superb! XO RA

Contradictions

There’s something about a contradiction that I just love–high necks, short skirts, and lace up heels are feeling just perfect for fall. Something about this outfit feels updated mod and vintage to me at the same time–and most importantly it’s all comfy!

Hope you have a great weekend! Happy Friday! XO RA
