Reasons I love vintage: high quality for great prices, original looks, different textures, it opens up styling opportunities, and many more.

What I think about when I wear vintage: the stories. I happen to love when I get the providence of a piece I’m buying; but, even when I don’t, I can’t help but think about the original owner. Did she wear the dress on a date? Did she get her first job in the suit? What did she love and lose in the jacket?

Vintage is the best combination of my loves fashion and storytelling.

And vintage like this vintage tweed? It’s everything.
First-tweed is a great thing to buy vintage. The quality and detail are just superior. Second, I love that this dress can be a dress, a cape (yes, the belt goes underneath the back, giving you a bit of swing!), and a coat (it goes great with jeans). Versatility? Another reason to love vintage tweed. The suede lining, pockets, and the addition of these vintage gloves are details I swoon for.

I can’t help but wonder: who wore it first? Was it freezing when she wore it? Did she twirl in it, like I wanted to?

And if vintage stories aren’t your thing, you can add modern touches and change the feel completely (aka these booties).

This vintage tweed find is via FeatherStone Vintage, one of my favorites, and a place to add to your shopping list!

While this tweed stunner is vintage, I’ve linked similar items below, as well as matches for the boots/belt/gloves!

What do you love about vintage?

Investment Piece: Staying In//Going Out

Have you heard? Staying in is the new going out. All the cool kids are doing it.

Here’s the thing. I love going out: the dressing up, the excitement, the seeing, the being seen, the new experiences. It’s energizing and at times, much needed.

Here’s the other thing. I love staying in: the coziness, the comfort, the recharge, the freedom, the savings. At times, it’s much needed.

But the thing is, who says that staying in (instead of going out) should interfere with your fashion? Get you an outfit that can do both. To me, that’s a killer shoe (feathers) and a cashmere coat that doubles as a robe (this is part of my partnership with Amberleaf, use code RACHELADELICIA to snag you a coat for staying in or going out of your own!)

What to wear under? That’s up to you!
(But I would love to hear about it!!)

Amberleaf specializes in amazing cashmere coats, as well as classic staples–you should check them out!
Feathers are an elevation to any outfit and should be worn going out or staying in. This weekend, I think I’ll do a little of both. What about you?

I’ve linked similar items below for your weekend shopping!!

She knew it was cliche.
But she couldn’t resist Holdiay reds.
The kind that warmed her throat, that made joy flow a bit easier, and that fit in her wine glass.
(No one said holiday reds couldn’t be wine)
But she was also a fan of holiday reds that made an entrance, made a statement, and felt like she was dressing in the holiday.
So, when the time came, she put on her best holiday red dress and went and made Merry.

***********************************************************************************************************
I know it’s cliche. I do. But I can’t resist a great red dress at this time of year. (Or a plaid one, or a green one.) There’s something about it that just feels holiday. In the chicest way. Confession? This holiday red is not new, you can read about it here, but it remains one of my favorites.
Every event I’ve had this year, I’ve been tempted to wear it. I did to a few things (don’t worry). While there are shopping options for you below, and I’m a great fan of adding to our closets, there’s something so comforting about having a favorite dress to slip into.
It also helps the holiday season and all those countless events seem easier. (That’s not just me, right?)

This season I hope you’re out enjoying every bit of Merry avaible to you. I hope that if you find a new holiday red you rock it (I love some of the ones below!), but I also wish for you a holiday red that’s a favorite, that gives you an added boost, and that you already have!

How do you holiday red?

You may have a holiday red, or you may be looking for a new one (I’m a fan of both), below are a few of my new favorites!

NYE Cinderella

Cinderella
It’s Midnight my lover
Its time for me to disappear
And leave behind my
Golden Slipper
For you to find
Making sure that
There will be another
Evening of pure delight

Don’t stop me my love
It’s a written rule from above
That your Cinderella
Must leave no matter what
At midnight on the dot
For if she does not
Yours will not
Be a happy lot

Please turn around my love
Cast a glance at the
Beauty that abounds
In this lovely gathering
Of dolled up ladies waiting
To play the game of mating
While you do that
Like lightening
I will be gone
For now
But I promise
I will come back again
By Sandra Martyres

My question about Cinderella? I don’t think think I could be that ok with losing an amazing shoe (at the time there was no promise you’d get it back). But leaving a party at midnight? That’s a Cinderella I could pull. Now, I love a great party, and I love getting dressed up. Something I don’t always love?
New Years Eve.

I know, I know, it’s almost grinch like. However, the pressure to have the “best night ever”, and the risk of losing shoes is not high on my list. My solution? Wear a nightgown to the party, then you’re always ready to pull a Cinderella. Yes, this is a vintage nightgown (a la my mom from the 1970s), but it’s also perfect for your NYE soiree. (And if you’re pulling a Cinderella and leaving at midnight, you don’t even have to change when you get home!) Faux fur and amazing shoes (not to be lost) make any gown fancy. Bonus: this look is even perfect for the Wild soiree you could have at home NYE!

While this gown is vintage, I’ve linked several other nightgowns below that would work on the town (wearing your pjs as clothes is in!) I’d love to know: how do you plan to play Cinderella this NYE?

A Merry Little Christmas

Investment Piece: A Merry Little Christmas

Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on your troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a Merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay,
From now on our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us, once more.
Through the years we all will be together,
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a Merry little Christmas now

This has always been one of my favorite holiday carols. Something about the good wishes, little moments, joy, and that twinge of melancholy. The thought of a Merry little Christmas makes me want to decorate a small tree, and reminisce while sipping champagne alone.
The holidays are a great time, but a hard time for many. Do what you need to do to make this season Merry for you.

Plaid top? It’s part of a PJ set. Yes, let’s wear our night clothes out, and stay comfy! I promise that you have a great set of PJs that would look great on the town (either together or seperately); or a gown that would read incredibly elegantly. Tis the season?

I’ve linked PJs that I love and more below!
(Check out these, these, and these plaid numbers. And this set would look so chic with heels!

Blue Velvet.

That’s how the song goes, right?

She was a fan of the season. The glitz. The glamour. What she wasn’t a fan of? Blending in. She wanted to be seen- for everything she was. Is. And might be. Velvet. Especially blue, let her fit and stand out all at the same time. Winner of the season? Maybe!

I love anything velvet (tis the season). Blue velvet means that you can celebrate, and wear it all throughout winter. I love these Pants and
this blazer.

I’ve also linked some other velvet options below!
