Trend to Try: Lingerie

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie
You walk into the room and turn heads, smiling to yourself because you have a little secret…..

A great trend to try right now? Lingerie! And no, I don’t mean in your private time, but don’t worry Mom, I’m not suggesting that you go out in just your bra!

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie

So, what exactly do I mean that lingerie is a trend to try? I mean what you think it might mean, I think there are times (and ways) to wear your lingerie in public. I also think that you should! What is made to be worn underneath is often so beautiful, why not show it off?!?

The above look is the combination of a teddy and a skirt. Simple, elegant, and a tad bit fun (who doesn’t like knowing that they’re pushing the envelope!) All over social media and magazines you might be seeing women daring to wear their lingerie in public, and I love it! It’s edgy and common place all at the same time.

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Lingerie

Ways I love to wear this trend? Bodysuits or teddy’s with jeans/pants/skirts. A peak of a bra from underneath a sweater. A great piece of lingerie under a sheer top or dress. If you’re really daring, a great bra as a top. While this look may not be safe for work, there are so many ways to be creative with this trend! And let’s say you did need to make this look a tad bit more conservative? Layering! Wear a shirt or turtleneck under your lingerie. Wear your bra over your dress. Make sure that you have nipple guards on. Put a huge sweater over it, and just let it peak out. A bit daring? Yes! But loves, sometimes our fashion can be a little daring, and we can be better for it!

Does this trend call your name? Do you hate it? Do you think there’s a way for you to rock it? I’d love to hear about it!

Where to Shop: Happy Isles

Investment Piece: Where to Shop: Happy Isles

I love a stunning shop, where the space is thought out. I love shopping at a place where the staff (or owner) is knowledgable. I love vintage. I love sharing it all with you. So, it only makes sense that I fell in love with Happy Isles. (I’ll say it again, one of the best parts of my job is dicovering amazing places and women and sharing them with you). Happy Isles is the most charming vintage bridal (yes, bridal), shop that I’ve ever been in–almost enough to make me want to plan a wedding. (Though not to worry, there are plenty of party and special occasion dresses! This is non-discrimation of non-ringed fingers!)

Loves, let’s chat for a minute about point of view, and niche. Acting training will shape you into always having a strong point of view, and coming from it. Think about it, all art that impacts you has a strong point of view. It has a niche, which makes it stronger. Happy Isles has mastered that. As people, we are all complex and layered and may love everything from trendy tees to gowns; but let’s be honest, few stores do ALL of that well. The ones I love the most have found their point of view, speak from it, and are impactful. I, after spending an afternoon in Happy Isles, want my life to look like this point of view.

Lily, the owner, is incredibly knowledgable (she got her training at Resurrection Vintage), and has created a space that I want to throw a party in, and one that makes all of the beautiful things feel even more special!

From the dresses to the seating/try on area, to the bar, and the veil wall; everything in Happy Isles is well thought out, beautiful, and fun!

The vintage at Happy Isles is simply stunning. The point of view on bridal and occasion dressing is just stunning–from more traditional gowns, to dresses to all things associated with the big day, dresses for a good party, and fun pieces that are a bit more “fancy”; if you have somewhere to go, Happy Isles has what you need! And they have amazing head gear, purses, and earrings to go with it!

Trend to Try: Turban

Investment Piece: Trend to Try: Turban

I’m the first to admit that I would be incredibly happy if hats made a comeback. The first step, however, may be a great turban. We know that I love incredible fashion and that I equally love a great workout. One thing I don’t always love? Washing my hair, which is at odds with my constant desire to look chic, yes, I know. My current solution? A turban! Effortlessly chic, a turban-made or a scarf tied as one, can hide dirty hair, elevate any look, and make you stand out.

Any Millinery should carry great turbans; you can also find great ones online at Etsy, as well as other amazing vintage stores. Another way to get a great, chic turban? Tie your scarf into one! Does that sound intimidating to you? It did to me too. In fact, I wasn’t sure that I could do it. So I did what anyone would do! I googled it!

I promise it’s more simple than it looks!
Take your scarf and fold it into a triangle.
Pull your hair up, I find it easiest to have your hair in a bun.
Put the scarf on your head, covering your hair, with the base of the triangle on your neck.
Tie the two ends by your ear together over the other piece.
Then twist all ends together, making a little knot. Tie as fit.

The great part? Once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature! And it transforms everything: your swim suit, a white tee shirt and jeans, your dresses. I love this trend, and would love it if we could make it a big thing! You in?

Shop my fave turbans and scarves below!

And please–share your turbans with me!

#TBT:Spring =Sprung

This post is from a million years ago (or 2) when it was just me and iphone. But this Tory Burch dress is still in rotation. I still love it, it still yells Spring to me. And that wall in LA, it still blooms. Somethings are great to go back to! Enjoy this post, I’ve updated the shopping options for you!

After spending some time last week inTX, where it rained, I came back to LA to have it rain here! Then I woke up this morning-and y’all, it’s spring! The sky is clear, the flowers are gorgeous and everything is so green! Guess those April showers know what they’re doing. And if it’s spring, we should dress like it. I’m loving this Tory Burch dress- it’s colors are perfect for the season, you can dress it up or down- and the drop waist and side pleats give a swing  to it. And these Schutz shoes- classic.

Happy Friday! Xo RA

Outdoor Voices

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

Two of my great loves? Working Out and Fashion. Opposites? Not at all–there’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good wherever you are, and another great love of mine? Companies that get that! So, I was so excited to get a chance to tour the Outdoor Voices store the last time that I was in Austin, get some amazing pieces, and learn more about their brand!

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

Loves, I have a confession: I like really hard workouts. I like to know that I’m getting stronger, love to sweat, and love to move. While I’m working my ass off (hopefully literally), I care about what I look like–I’m not the type to work out in make-up and designer clothes; but, I care about things like my leggings not being see-through, being tight enough, and yes, being cute enough! Cue Outdoor Voices: their legging collection is a dream!
Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices

From color to cut to fit, Outdoor Voices has mastered the legging. There’s seasonal colors, amazing cut outs, and the best thing is that they aren’t see through (tested through many a spin and yoga class), they don’t ride up, and the fit is so great that you don’t have to tug! A company that gets that my workouts are a necessity but let me look great while doing do–I love it!

Loves, Outdoor Voices doesn’t just do amazing leggings and sports bras. Their motto? Doing Things! And they have a great selection of clothes in which to do things: from hiking, errands, dog walking, or any activity you can think of, Outdoor Voices has you covered. Some of my fave things? Their jogging pants (my new go-to), tanks/tees (some of the softest I’ve ever touched), and the new capris (which are fancy enough to pair with button downs and “street clothes”). I promise you’ll see me in these a lot! Another great feature? When you fall in love with Outdoor Voices products like I have you can invest in a Rec Kit-pants/top/bra starting at $100, an amazing deal!

Investment Piece: Outdoor Voices
Impeccable fits, great clothes, and deals? The only thing that makes Outdoor Voices even better are the people: Everyone I’ve met at OV was incredibly kind, willing to help, and knowledgable! I’ve even gotten emails since my visit making sure the fit of my clothes was spot on! And, I regularly see the staff working out, meaning that they won’t lead you wrong!

So, what are we waiting for? Let’s get to doing things! You can shop Outdoor Voices at their brick and mortars listed above or online at Outdoor Voices

Loves, as it’s #TBT , and I’ve had this outfit on my mind, I couldn’t resist reposting this. I still love this outfit as much as I did last year–and still wear it! I’ve updated the shopping links, so you can get your shopping on! Happy Thursday!

I have avoided the blazer/shorts combo for years. Partially out of fear that it was the “fashion mullet”, business on top, party on bottom. Partially as I love a good sundress. However, this combo slowly won me over. Here is my caveat: I think shoes are important, wearing flip flops is a no-no, they need to elevate the outfit. Other than that, I say let’s have fun! I know there are matched sets out there, which I love, and I love the idea of making a set; but I also love the juxtaposition of this outfit. The classic and the destroyed. I stayed cool (and oh my is it hot!) and yet felt pulled together for meetings. The perfect #summersuit. Oh, and we”re gonna talk about this ClareV bag- it’s one of my faves (and I have it in 3 colors)

I have nothing against the “Candian” or “Texan” tuxedo. I actually think that it can be akin to wearing a monochrome look–just with denim. And in the heat of summer, yes it already feels like summer, I have to admit that I throw on my cutoffs on, and I am a huge fan of denim shirts; I run around in variations of this outfit all summer long. But because you know me well by now, you know that there are times when I can’t leave well enough alone, I have to add a contrast to an outfit, a pop. Loves, my new fave thing for that very purpose are these ankle straps- they can be worn together, seperately, with any shoes, on your wrist. The possibilities are truly endless. And I love this color!

These Attico ankle straps come in different colors (some are studded–which could be so fun!) and can be found here. I’m planning on putting them on with jeans, shorts, skirts, and dresses–hopefully the ankle straps will distract from the heat!

And a non-fashion related tip: walking around half built houses is fun! My mom and I love imagining what it will look like when it’s done. And not a bad place for a photo shoot!

I’d love to know: would you wear these straps? With what?
