I’ve been thinking a lot about the summers when we were kids. Not that there’s a typical one. There were summers I had art camp (never sleep away), summers full of days at the pool, reading books, and indulging my imagination. Times when summer dinner was simply watermelon, and I can still taste the sno-cones we would sometimes get after the pool, still in our swim suits and in towels.

The continuing theme no matter the summer? A little summer fantasy. Yes, I know there are all sorts of theories on vacations and staycations, of letting yourself get way, even for a bit. And I agree. But what about the day to day? What about the random summer Tuesday? Doesn’t that deserve a dollop of fantasy?

Maybe we define fantasy differently, but to me, fantasy can mean anything fun, out-there, amazing, that stretches you, isn’t routine. There are summer days, full of water and laze, that can invite fantasy on their own. And of my favorite ways to add a little fantasy? Fashion. I’m 100% the type of woman to wear a ball skirt about, because you never know where it will lead you. To dress up, in whatever strikes my fancy, and let that be my vacation or fantasy for the day.

This ball skirt makes me want to lounge in a garden, or by the beach, have tea, or champagne, and whisk away. And with the heat of summer stretching before us, isn’t that a great fantasy?

A note about the top: faux leather, but it goes with everything. Shorts. Jeans. A great way to elevate anything. And, leather is a must for the fall. It will go with everything and you need it. I’m ready to pair mine with vintage Levis and kitten heels! You can find it here (the white is so chic!). And the code RACHEL4EK for 15% off your first order.

The skirt? Alice and Olivia. It makes me smile, and I love the pattern. I’ve linked you similar ones below!

What’s your summer fantasy?
