Fashion Halloween

Have I mentioned how much I love costumes? Maybe it’s the theater in me, maybe it’s the fashion, but there’s something about planning my fashion Halloween costume that brings me such joy.

I also love seeing your costumes. Yes, it’s the beginning of the month/season. But, please, feel free to share.

This year? I’m excited about all the costumes I’m planning, I’m also thinking of all the costumes past. Let’s be real- If your goal is “fashion Halloween” there are many ways you can go about it. Wear a gown and call it a day. (You could say you’re a kind of Princess) Go all out and order a costume (one of my faves year after year is Catwoman, and I’m not sorry). So, what kind of fashion Halloween should we be this year?

What do I have up my stilettos for this year? Stay tuned! In the meantime, let’s enjoy the past fashion Halloweens!

I’d love to hear your costume thoughts, plans, or suggestions!

Fashion Stories: Ossie Clark

Loves! It’s the time of month where we go into our closets to see what stories live there. This month? I was lucky enough to chat with Lauren from Timeless Vixen about her Ossie Clark collection. It’s amazing. And I can’t wait to get back into her closet and really play. Also –I’d love to come play in your closet! What do you collect?

In the meantime, let’s enjoy my convo with Lauren about her 109 pieces of Ossie Clark (yes, her closet is #goals)

Hope you enjoy!

Fashion in the Wild: Galas and Weddings

Loves, May is always one of the most fashionable months of the year. From the Met Gala to the Royal Wedding this year, there has been no shortage of outstanding fashion offerings.

If you’re wondering: my invitations to both events got lost in the mail. But I got to watch both in face masks and silk robes, so I might still have come out on top.

The Met Gala
My favorite looks from the Met Galas were the ones that were over the top in support of the theme. Because if there is ever a time for over the top in support of a theme, the Met Gala is it! Whether you loved Rhinna as the Pope, or Zendaya as Joan of Arc, the Met Gala offered a glimpse at Catholic symbolism that was just stunning.

Some of my favorite looks:

And if you need more of a Met Gala Fashion breakdown:

The Royal Wedding

I know it’s cliche, but I loved the Royal wedding. Yes, I woke up WAY too early to watch it. Yes, I cried. Yes, I believed in fairy tales for a moment (ok, I believe in fairy tales all the time, especially when they involve shoes). What’s different about a Royal Wedding (besides that whole Prince thing) for me are the hats. I LOVE the hats. (And the fashion in general). But as someone who never seems to have an occasion to wear hats like they do in Europe, I’m endlessly fascinated by hat fashion.

Some favorite hat moments:

Beyond the hats, the fashion at the Royal wedding was nothing to sneeze at either! From the polka dot dress worn by Abigail Spencer (which I may be determined to find) to the Queen’s bright choice, here are some of the best fashion moments:

My one disappointment for this month’s Fashion in the Wild? I wasn’t in the wild with this fashion. Maybe I need to work on that for next year’s gala (and if one of you marries a prince I can work that into my schedule too!)

What were your favorite looks?

Fashion in the Wild: Vintage Trip

I am so incredibly lucky to have two cities that I love and live in, and so many people and vintage that I love. This site lets me share some of that with you, and of my joys is meeting people in real life. But let’s be a little honest: combining those lives can be a little difficult. Luckily, my tribe is amazing, welcoming, and open!

This past week I got to go with my Austin love Bloomers and Frocks to LA, where I showed her some of my LA loves. It was a vintage trip full of fabulous clothes, good wine, and great friends!

Rebekka, the owner of B&F, and I got to see Recess LA, The Kit Vintage, Timeless Vixen, Ragg Mopp Vintage (you can see my dress from them here). And more! We shopped, we bonded over a love of vintage, we found amazing things. It was marvelous to see my different worlds combine, and the result was great!

I knew that everyone would get along, but was pleasantly surprised at how quickly everyone “fell in love”. It felt great to see people I love love each other.

And loves, the vintage! All of the shops in LA are simply stunning and have such a great selection right now! Rebekka got so many stunners to take back to Austin. If you are in either of those cities, you are so lucky!

But, what if you aren’t in either of those cities? I bet there’s some amazing vintage where you are, and I would love to hear about it! Got a great vintage place I should be shopping? Let me hear about it. What if you need some recommendations on how to vintage shop, or help finding dealers in your area or online? Let’s chat about it. Maybe together we can have a vintage trip of our own!

You can reach out to me about shopping and vintage trips at racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com!

Hope your Thursday is full of great clothes and great friends!

Fashion in the Wild: Date Night Looks

This is the month of “date nights”. (Though I really hope this isn’t the only month you have a date night) But, with the focus of Valentine’s Day and love on date nights, we (or I) can’t help but think about what to wear on a date night.

Real talk? I don’t think there’s just one kind of date night, and I believe there’s no right or wrong thing to wear on a date night. Be it with your friends, yourself, or your honey, any event can be a date night. Movie by yourself? Drinks with friends? Dinner? Dancing? Why can’t anything you enjoy with people you enjoy be a date night? In my world, it is.

So, what do we wear on date nights? I’m a huge fan of wearing dresses, but they are by no means your only option. Jeans and a top, pants with a blazer, sweats on the couch. In my view the most important part of a date night outfit is that you feel amazing in it.

Below are some of my favorite combinations for date nights. I’d love to know: what do you rock for date night?

XO RA

I hope this month and in the months to come that every date night is a blast and one of the things you love is your outfit!

Fashion in the Wild: Halloween Costumes

Loves! Last week we chatted a lot about Halloween Costumes (see here and here). Fun fact? I still have no idea what I’m going to be. Or what I’m doing on Halloween for that matter. What I do know? I love a good Halloween costume! There’s just something about dressing up and having fun that I just love. I’m spending the weekend thinking of a great plan and a great costume, until then I’m watching this video for inspiration on repeat!

Fashion in the Wild: Dresssing Rooms

Fashion Happens in the craziest places. This isn’t a post about that, this is a post about what goes on in the dressing room. We’ve all been there: you try something on, you fall in love, you hate it, you pose, you twirl, you strut. Not all of this fashion gets to come home with us, or out in the wild with us, but does that make it any less important?

I’ve spent the past few weeks in and out of dressing rooms. I’ve made a little video of my favorite pictures, stay tuned to see what I got!

Design in the Wild: Swimwear

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

As we began to plan out this month’s “Design in the Wild”, not much went our way. The jeans we wanted to test out were sold out (again), my team and I had different ideas, and it really felt like it might not come together. I got nervous. Then I had a great idea: it’s been way too hot, way too soon, and all I’ve wanted to do is get in the water! My big idea: I’d wear my swim suit around and see what reaction I got!

Investment Piece: Design in the Wild

Great idea, right? And while I still think that the issue became: I already live my life this way! I’ve been wearing swim suits as street wear forever!

This was even one of my first blog posts: here.

From above and on Instagram (@racheladelicia) you know that I wear my swim suits everywhere, and the reaction is always great! The only comments I get are that people think it’s cute.

So my next idea: What if you wore your swim suit around and let me know the reaction? That’s right loves, this is your chance to be on Investment Piece! Wear your swim suit as part of your outfit (use any of mine for inspiration or do your own!) Take pics, take down reactions- if you want to do a series of pictures or a video, amazing! And send it to me at racheladelicia@investmentpiece.com. We’ll put you on the blog in 2 weeks!

I can’t wait to see what you send in!
