Modern Audrey

I love classics, be it pieces or Icons. So when the two combine? I’m all in. I love the feel of this vintage opera coat-the way it swings, the sleeves, the color. And paired with black pants, flats and a bun-I can’t help but feel a little like Audrey myself. It’s a perfect combination for lunch, dinner, or just a day–it feels put together and yet really fun. And isn’t that the best part of classic Icons?

Happy Friday! XO RA

Loves, we know that I love great vintage, and truth be told, I love a great consignment shop as well (a girl who loves designers has to!). And the better news for you in Austin, or those who travel there, Garment Modern and Moss have you covered! These are sister stores, located right by each other and owned and operated by the amazing Masha. And between them both they have all your shopping needs met!

So the rundown: Moss is a designer consignment store. They carry high end, in season (or current) items at a discount. Their selection is outstanding, and they have a discount system where the longer an item is in store, the further the price is reduced ( yes, you’re risking losing the item, but it can pay off!).
What I love: the selection is stellar, hand curated, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgable
Watch out for: sales! Be aware items can go fast, and know that you can order over their Instagram! (@mossaustin)

Garment The Rundown: A collection of both vintage and modern clothing, shoes, and accessories. New items are added daily, and the balance between new and old is spot on!
What I love: great vintage, great shoes, and the new lines feel fresh and a great contrast to the vintage. The staff is great (a common theme) and I can’t ever seem to leave empty handed.
Watch out for: Items go quickly, the selection (even on new items) is limited, and everything is stoppable via Instagram or online (@garment_modern, Garment Modern)

#Limited

Any time there is a “limited” edition of something you know can either go two ways’ it can either be simply amazing, or it can be the opposite. So when I got the news that Reformmation was doing a limited edition run with certain fabrics? I was cautiously optimistic. However, I was also completely rewarded–which should come as no surprise as Reformation is one of my go-to brands. And this skirt! Almost Gucci-like, silky smooth, adjustable, and just perfect for the end of summer, but able to make the transition into fall! I can’t get enough of it!

How I plan on rocking it this fall (sorry Kittens, it’s 105, I can’t get into a sweater):

This is a limited skirt (which comes in more than one color, I also love the dress!) that you should get on!

Summer Sequins

I love summer, I love sequins, and any combination of the two is a win in my book. It’s simple skirt isn’t so simple. It’s white. It’s gold. Move the sequins and it’s a combo. And it’s perfect for late summer bbqs. It only needs a white tank–and yes, you could dress it up. And while I love these ADetacher shoes, this would go just as great with flats. It’s summer sequin perfection!

Sunday Chronicles: Olympics

Loves, it’s the Olympics! Which you know, unless you’ve been living under a rock. And yes, there are a ton of issues with the location, the safety, the danger–I actually have strong opinions on these, but as the games have started they have faded away. Athletes who train for their whole lives are now chasing medals. Their dedication, strength, and passion are something to which most of us can only aspire to. And while I have issues with the location, and some of the broadcast, I can’t help but be riveted. Seeing people so fearlessly pursue their dreams and greatness is rare–and the Olympics are nothing but that. It makes you think–about your dreams, about your pursuit.

So, I ask: are you watching? Do the games inspire you? What are you chasing fearlessly?

Wishing us all a week of greatness and amazing shoes! XO RA

As you know, suits are big for fall. (Need a refresher on fall trends? Got you covered here) I love suits and am in to suit up for fall–they are easy, classic, fun and I love the possibilities! From simple to extravagant, day to night, there’s a suit out there for everyone. This HM variety is perfect for nights out, but I love that it’s subtle enough to wear doing the day. What about you? Are you ready to suit up?

I was lucky enough to visit my alma mater last week–and even luckier that the new library has these amazing steps! Even more perfect: this vintage stunner on the steps. (And loves, this dress has pockets!) I just love it–the scenery, the fact that this dress needs nothing other than an occasion, and the fact that I got to shoot this where I used to study hard! Hope that little things like this are bringing you joy!

Dress Flats?

image

More than once on this site you have heard me mention to “dress things down” I wear flats. Which is a completely unfair statement to flats. Here’s the thing: I’m a heels girl. As in, I will think nothing of wearing heels to run errands, take walks, anything–heels are my natural go-tos. (I have incredibly high arches and in my “medical” opinion this is part of why I find them so comfortable). But due to some injuries recently, and some amazing shoes, I’ve begun to rethink my position. Can heels be dressy? Loves, I think the answer is yes: they can. Dress flats are a thing that we can do, and love.

I know that some women have to opt for flats due to medical reasons, and some just prefer them. The good news is that there are so many options when it comes to dress flats–shiny, studded, scrappy, open toe, Pom-poms–and most importantly, that they don’t disrupt any line of any dress. (Yes, we can debate that certain shoes look best with certain outfits, but we’d be here alllllllllllll day). This past weekend, in both need and exploration of my theory I wore flats with a dress to the opera; and loves, I loved it. I felt the studs added something, it felt fresh–and just as dressy as my flats. Does this mean I’m hanging up my heels? Never. But it does mean that my flat collection is about to get a whole lot bigger!

I’d love to know: do you rock a dress flat?
