Why Purple?

This is a story about why purple. Purple is not only the color of royalty and wisdom, it’s my school colors (yep, both high school and college). If you follow me on Instagram you know that I am a loyal alumni of my college, TCU. Maybe I take college football a little too seriously, but we have a “Go Purple Friday” tradition. And I follow it. Then, I also wear purple on game day. So, I’m always on the look out for fashionable purple to show my pride.

*SideNote: this skirt looks a little more magenta in pictures. I promise it’s more purple!

Why purple? If you look closely at this skirt, there’s thin gold stripes. This a story about finding a cheaper version of something you like. Many of us have a thing for Gucci, or at least I do. I kept seeing pictures of this Gucci skirt on Pintrest and other blogs. The shine, the color, the pleats, it was love. However, I keep trying to be on a “budget”; and my budget isn’t always Gucci friendly. So, I did what I do: look for a more affordable option. This time? I googled pleated metallic skirt and got this one on Etsy for less than $30. Winner? Me. And, maybe you! I’ve found this one and this one that are both super similar, and there are more picks below! (And yes, some of them are purple!)

It wouldn’t be a fashion post if we didn’t address the pieces that aren’t purple. So, you ask: Why Purple? I answer: because purple can be a neutral. Yes, purple can pop, but don’t be afraid to let your fashion choices shine. I just adore these gold mules, and while metallics can seem like attention grabbers, they can also flow with an outfit. Here I love that they bring out the gold in the skirt, but I assure you, they can go with a lot. Pro tip: if you are ever unsure about what top to wear choose a grey sweater, a white tee, or a chambray top. I chose chambray: neutral, semi casual, and able to go with anything. This bag? The shape is on trend, I love the colors, and it didn’t match but went with the skirt. Sometimes you have an outfit with one standout piece; sometimes you have great pieces that make an outfit stand out. Don’t be afraid to try both.

And let’s not be afraid of purple!

I’ve linked some of my favorite similar items to the ones in this post below!
