It’s coming– holiday dinners, parties, drinks, festivities. And all the outfits that go along with these events! First up: Thanksgiving. Last year I presented this guide for Thanksgiving dressing, based on what type of event you’re attending. There’s a “formal” dinner, where you can’t go wrong with a dress in heels, the mid level where a skirt/jumpsuit/nice jeans and blouse will do, and the casual where you can wear sweatpants.
Don’t knock it. A girlfriend of mine used to host “Sweatpants Thanksgiving”, and let’s not rule out “nice” sweatpants and a top for your day of eating! Shop some of the looks that I think could get you through next week below!
Loves, as you may know, I have a thing for vintage YSL (see here and here) and you may recognize this outfit from FWLA (here and here). I couldn’t resist showing you all the details–this outfit has not only become a go to (it’s super easy, sophisticated and comfortable) for dinners, events and meetings; I’m a fan of the pieces seperately (pants with a graphic tee or blouse, the top forward/backwards, over dresses, with jeans, even thrown over leggings at the gym). And details–the slits in the pants to keep them interesting, the velvet dots on and bow on the top. And the top! So it’s actually a jacket (the slit and bow are supposed to go in the front), but I’ve fallen in love with wearing it backwards, though it makes a great jacket! This outfit in my back pocket for the holidays is making this Monday a little easier!
A huge thank you to every one who came out on Thursday night! I hope you had a much fun as I did playing dress up with the amazing vintage at Bloomers and Frocks. Just a reminder: make sure you’ve signed up for Nifty by today to be eligible for the give away (as in sign up NOW). We will announce the winner this evening!
Good luck!
Wishing us all a week of love and amazing shoes! XO RA
French Girl cool is something that many of us aspire to-myself included. There are books, articles, how-to’s written about it, but that French essence can be hard to pull off. My way? Black–not necessarily, but black is simple, elegant, a statement and monochrome–all at the same time. Great accessories (these Celine booties are a dream!). Something a little undone, in this case having wavy hair helps. And a red lip (always a red lip). Maybe it’s not the traditional French girl cool, but it’s my take on it! I’d love to know, what’s your version?
Loves! Today is the day! I hope to see you in Austin for my holiday shopping event with Bloomers and Frocks! We will have great vintage, snacks, wine, give aways and more!
Loves, I know this is shocking, but I’m always looking for new, and better ways to shop! And Nifty app, which I fell in love with at FWLA is one of them! Yes, there are many shopping apps, but what sets Nifty apart is their focus on proper fitting clothing. The founder, a shopper like us, grew sick of ordering clothes online but having to return them because of fit. So, she did something about it! Nifty has you enter your measurements, and then works with designers to fit items that would fit you best! Genius!
They are adding designers and bloggers (like me!) to work with daily!
Besides having items to shop, Nifty will recommend pieces based on your body type and preferences! Which is a great way to discover things you didn’t even know you wanted–dangerous, but amazing!
And of course, it’s a friendly place to shop! I love that everything is based on not only your preferences, but your measurements. Let’s be honest loves, there is no standard sizing, and it can often be frustrating to order “your size” to have it not be your size. Nifty’ s goal is to eliminate this!
And not only can you build your profile, you can follow bloggers, like me!, and shop their Instagram (and when the item is vintage, I link similar items!). A great way to get more fashion inspiration!
I love this addition to my shopping arsenal and I hope you do too!
Also, Austin, TX we have a date this Thursday! And if you’re coming, and you sign up for Nifty you will be entered in to a gift certificate drawing! Hope to see you there!
Sometimes simple details can make an outfit–like a wrap up! I love the details on these adorable Jcrew Shoes, and love mirroring it with this amazing vintage top! The patterns mix well but don’t match, leaving me feeling a bit edgy but pulled together! It’s the perfect combo–cherries (sweet but not saccharine) and black and white (classic yet the tie can be playful), and they all go great with this slightly cropped jeans!
Loves, I would be remiss if I didn’t make sure that you knew that ShopBop is on day 2 of it’s 3 day sale! And Thursday afternoon pick-me-ups are a thing, right? Shop some of my picks below!
If you follow me on Instagram (@racheladelicia) or read Sunday Chronicles this week you know I’m throwing a party!! And I hope that you can come! Bloomers and Frocks and I (read about her here) are looking to help you with your holiday styling–all the sequin, velvet, what to wear to each event happenings! There will be great vintage, some snacks, wine(!), and us! Gift certificate give aways, discounts, and promos are also going to be given away. I truly hope to meet you and help you find some great things!

Capes are “in” this season, so what’s better than a cape? A statement cape. One with a pattern, with incredible movement, one that doubles as a shirt. And loves, this cape by Melange Mode fits the bill! Melange Mode is great–they mix African patterns with “western” shapes, which means that we get state to pieces handmade that are just exquisite! I love the play of yellow and navy in the cape, and the movement! All I want to do is run in this cape, it not only looks great, it feels special. Paired with high waisted jeans (though it would look great with pants or skirts or over a slip dress as well!) and heels-it makes a statement, yet is not too overbearing. It’s special and you will get tons of compliments-trust me!
