Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas
Let your heart be light
From now on your troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a Merry little Christmas
Make the Yuletide gay,
From now on our troubles will be miles away.
Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us, once more.
Through the years we all will be together,
If the fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself a Merry little Christmas now

This has always been one of my favorite holiday carols. Something about the good wishes, little moments, joy, and that twinge of melancholy. The thought of a Merry little Christmas makes me want to decorate a small tree, and reminisce while sipping champagne alone.
The holidays are a great time, but a hard time for many. Do what you need to do to make this season Merry for you.

Plaid top? It’s part of a PJ set. Yes, let’s wear our night clothes out, and stay comfy! I promise that you have a great set of PJs that would look great on the town (either together or seperately); or a gown that would read incredibly elegantly. Tis the season?

I’ve linked PJs that I love and more below!
(Check out these, these, and these plaid numbers. And this set would look so chic with heels!

Gift Guides: For Him

I can’t be the only one who thinks that shopping for a man can be overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, if you know him well, it can be so easy! But the guys that you’re just getting to know, aren’t close with, are doing group shopping for? That can be tricky. And no man wants just another tie and you don’t need me to suggest whiskey stones. So what to get for the men in your life?

I have some thoughts!

BAGS
Computer bags, gym bags, overnight bags. The man in your life needs a bag. I like these:

Clothes
Are you ready for my hot take in terms of gifts for him? Buying him clothes is more difficult than buying her clothes. The caveats being unless you know him super well, or you know exactly what he wants. Otherwise, buying him clothes as a gift can be a lot. Lucky you, I’ve rounded up some choices that are sure to make him smile!

Tech Gifts
Most of the men in my life LOVE a good tech gift. These are my picks:

For the Young Man in Your Life

Blue Velvet.

That’s how the song goes, right?

She was a fan of the season. The glitz. The glamour. What she wasn’t a fan of? Blending in. She wanted to be seen- for everything she was. Is. And might be. Velvet. Especially blue, let her fit and stand out all at the same time. Winner of the season? Maybe!

I love anything velvet (tis the season). Blue velvet means that you can celebrate, and wear it all throughout winter. I love these Pants and
this blazer.

I’ve also linked some other velvet options below!

She needed a hero.
On long days, on short days, on days when things just weren’t going her way. She needed someone to problem solve, to stand up for her, to tell her it was going to be ok. So, she waited. And waited.
No hero came.
It dawned on her that if she wanted or needed a hero, she was going to have to do it herself. Maybe it wasn’t exactly how the story she was told when she was younger.
However, she donned her cape. She set herself to the task.
And she became the hero she needed.
She problem solved with the best of them, she stood up for herself, and she told herself repeatedly that it would be ok.
It was.

And she looked great in a cape.

I have a thing for capes. here, here, here, and here. Capes are classic and a statesmen and a twist, all at the same time.
This cape, and these pants, are both via Amberleaf. The pants are the perfect length to show off your boots (or heels, and this cape is not only a coat, but can be worn as a top.
Capes not only make you look like a superhero (or remind you that you are one), but they look so incredibly chic. Superhero Cape in more than one way.

I’ve linked similar options for you below, and this EXACT cape and pant can be found on Amberleaf. Don’t forget to use code RACHELADELICIA at checkout!

Gift Guide: Stocking Stuffers

Investment Piece, Christmas lights, Sunday Chronicles, Tradition, CA, TX, fashion blogger

We’re kicking off our gift guide with stocking stuffers, which in my experience, are either something you love or you hate .

I love them.

There’s something about something small and thoughtful that’s just full of joy. My family keeps these gifts small, think lipstick, etc, and sometimes kitchy, think glitter paper clips. But, these stocking stuffers always make me smile (and you’d be surprised how often I use them all!). Some families go a bit bigger for a stocking stuffer, and I have you covered too! Last year, I curated a small list of stocking stuffers that I just loved, see that here.

More stocking stuffers I love:

Gold Digging

Gold digging. Digging for gold. What she wanted was simply luxury, but peace. Were they the same thing? What would you give up for gold?

Loves, I tried, but all the stories that I could come up with weren’t exactly what I wanted to say. This shoot was so fun, and this outfit has been my go-to for casual entertaining and holiday decorating; and I’m not sure what would do it justice.

The name of this painting is “Gold Digger” and I couldn’t help but play on that. Gold digging. It’s an interesting topic, and one that can often lead to very firm opinions (and judgements). I’m not sure that I’m qualified to offer any story or essays on the topic. (Though I do love this:
In Defense of the Gold Digger about class inequality).

Maybe the gold digging I’m doing is trying to find the right story? (Though I’d never turn down the right shoes 😉 )

As for fashion: it really has taken me a long time to embrace (fully) athlesure. But, I’ve latched onto biker shorts and pedal pushers and I’m never letting go. See here and here. Yes, these pieces go great with tees and sweatshirts, but my new favorite way to pair them? With a “going out top”, this body suit with a deep v is perfect. Casual, comfy, and creative. You can decorate, run errands, and all the things around the house without batting an eye. You also look pulled together so that if a friend happens to stop by with champagne (or any other holiday festive-ness) you’re ready.

Gold Digging? Maybe that’s what this is!
(Yes, Mom, I’m joking!)

Lucky you, no need to dig, I’ve linked similar pieces to recreate this look below!

Sunday Chronicles: Happy Hanukkah!

Investment Piece: Happy Hanukkah

To all those who celebrate:
Chag Urim Sameach! Or Happy Hanukkah!

Today begins the 8 day Festival of Lights, celebrating the rededication of the Jewish temple in Jerusalem in the 2nd Century BCE. It’s often celebrated by lighting a candle a day for eight days, in remembrance of the oil in the temple that was not enough for one night, but lasted for eight.

I’m not Jewish. I won’t pretend to be. However, the Jewish religion, holidays, and customs are beautiful and something for us all to respect. At this time of year when our focus is on giving and joy, let’s remember that those intangible gifts are meant for us all. It’s a great time of year to celebrate what it is that you believe, and make room for other people’s celebrations.

Celebrate. Light the candles. Light other people’s candles.

If you’re interested in learning more about Faith’s that aren’t your own, I also think this is a great time of year for that. I get so much out of Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg on twitter (@TheRaDR) and her book:
Surprised by God is on my Christmas list.

May the next 8 nights be a time of love, hope, compassion, and connection for us all.
Happy Hanukkah!

Fashion Stories: Gifts

I am obessed with the stories that our fashion tell. I’m on a mission to tell them all. Mine. Yours. Everyone’s. I’m fascinated by the things we hang onto, the stories we tell, what matters to us and how does the fashion we keep enforce that.

This month, as our minds are on gifts, I’m chatting about gifts that tell a story that I can’t get rid of.
And yes, I’m working on stopping saying “um” all the time!

Enjoy!
I’d love to know what gifts you hang onto! I’d also love to tell your stories-hit me up!

Gift Guides: From Target

Is there another store that can bring as much joy as Target? I think not. Those memes and jokes are around for a reason. And if it’s a store that can bring that much joy, just think how much joy that they can spread at the most joyful time of the year!

My mom and I love going to Target from the $1 aisle to searching for everything we need and all those things that we don’t, going to Target can be an adventure. In that spirit, I’ve been gift guide searching there for you. If there’s a way to get joy and get all your shopping done in one place, I’m all for it.

Without further ado, I present Gift Guide: From Target

Happy Shopping!

She fought it at first. That feeling that things were over. After all, she was amazing and he should be grateful for that. The dull pain took away her desire to sing, and to tell her stories. But then, time passed. She calmed down. It dawned on her that the best thing that he ever did was leave her alone.
And after time, her voice returned, as did her passion. She began to sing again, and to play all the hits.
Maybe he didn’t love the way that she told the story of she and him? That was his problem.
She was singing, telling the tale, playing all the hits.

Wearing all black isn’t only chic and slimming, it hides things like spilling your holiday cheer on you. Just keep that in mind this holiday season. And as for hits, is there a better one? I can’t think of a time when all black wouldn’t be great!
Are socks with heels a thing we do? I asked that question when I first started this blog, and the answer was a resounding yes. You can see for yourself here.
And socks with something to say? I’m in!
(If you can’t quite tell, these say “Aurevior Asshole”. Break-up socks if I ever saw them. These are MOTHER, not just great jeans and can be found here)

This look is not only perfect for work, cocktails, and holiday parties when you just aren’t in the mood, but for when the new year comes and you have things on your mind.

I’ve linked pieces below for your shopping pleasure. Play those hits!
